i'm gonna say it again: MBT means maximizing torque. more torque means more fuel. this is for power tuning.
in cruise you want to tune your AFR first and use timing to keep the burn in the cylinder. so what if you're beyond MBT in cruise? you've already changed the game by reducing fuel.
just raise all your timing into the low 40s
and raise your AFR targets below 70kPa to 15.5:1
stay off the gas on the highway.
you wont destroy your car.

Its not for power tuning, its for max efficiency in every cell, in every scenario.
You also might look at how you are driving the car on the street when you calculate your mpg. I'm tuned for 14.7:1 at cruise and I have no problem getting around 30 mpg. It doesn't take much to bring that number down.
Please lock this thread. This is ridiculous. Every thread this tool makes goes from him asking how something is done, us giving him advice, to him telling us we are wrong, and then tell us his "version" of the answer to his own question. Its a total joke....
fueleconomy.gov says 22/27 for the 5sp and 21/26 for the 6sp stock miata.

Anyway it does seem this whole thing is pointless.
Trey, you can't get better than 22mpg with an 8:1 compression motor.
