COP Coils, which coils?
I have been given a set on Ford 4M5G-12A366-BC coils, it looks like they are from a Ford Focus and some Volvo models. They have 2 wire connections, I will post some pictures when the batteries in my camera have charged. Are these suitable? Is there a post somewhere listing coil that can be used?
Thanks

Most of us use the 1ZZ Toyota coils (late model Corolla), which are four wire. I think I've heard of some 3 wires working, but not sure at all on 2 wires.
There is a good COPS write-up in the saved posts section...do these coils you have even physically fit?
Here ya go:

2 wire coils will work if you add the BIP373 transistor. Using two-wire coils, you will never fry them (a common problem with Miata coils), as the only part that may be burnt is the BIP transistor,, which is mighty tough, and should it get burnt, is cheap and easy to replace.

Those should work well for you, so long as you add the appropriate ignition modules. For a MegaSquirt ECU, you'll need (4) of these:

or for a DIYPNP, you'll need (4) of these:

Then you can run sequential ignition if you have the right hardware and enough outputs, or you can run them "wasted spark" with just spark outputs A and B by pairing them together.

To minimize electrical noise interference generated by such a setup, the 2 wires that lead to each COP should be twisted together.
The circuit with the BIP should have a largish capacitor (say 1,000 uF / 16V, low ESR type) across the 12V line which goes to the COP, and the GND or E pin of the BIP, with short traces or wires.
Better yet if you mount the BIP and capacitor near each COP. Then you twist the 12V and GND pairs, and mount a capacitors near the valve cover.
