Hi, I have just managed to get hold of a cheap MS1 V3 nd need to know what needs changing/modding and if anyone knows how it is currently setup.

Sorry about the fuzzy pic, I have not seen a MS board with this much stuff on it and I assume much of it needs to go.

Sorry again for the nooby post but I would really appreciate some help, thanks guys

My suggestion to you would be to take a look at Brain's diagrams in the Megasquirt section of the forum here.

There is a "what you need to install" diagram. Also read up on the miata input and spark mods. They will need to be installed on the board before it will run your car.

If it helps, get a copy of the megamanual and read through it to check that everything was installed properly.

Also, it looks like that was set up to be triggered by a VR sensor directly judging from the jumpers and the inclusion of the trimpots.

Where did you buy it? Another car forum? Ebay?

From eBay, I'm assuming this is going to be difficult to reverse? Not too much of a problem as I got it for £100. Is the fact it has been built to trigger off vr only going to be a problem?

No and No.

Easily fixed by someone who can solder. VR components are optional and are ignored when properly set up.

There are those that would argue that the hall components are optional and ignored when properly set up. Seriously, I just set up a MS2 V3.57 for a Miata triggering off VR INV with 12 volt pullup, and a 5V pullup on the 2nd input. It's working great. The "hall" input was originally intended for coil input for fuel only applications, and the "VR" input was intended for hall or VR signals. Point being that there's more than one way to do it...

Morning, right, one last noob question before I break out the soldering iron...
Can all the existing components be left in place when I do the mx5 based mods? (I'm assuming probably not, but hoping yes lol)
