new MS1 install, coils sploded
new user, megasuirt noobish. assembled my MS according to the manual and the instructions in this thread: https://www.miataturbo.net/forum/t13676/ . I have the MS assembled with EBC, fan mod, USB modkit and all the 'mods' listed on that page for spark and tach. I am currently using the MS1 as a full replacement ECU, I have a 93 with 94 engine/coils-ignitors/injectors. I followed the harness wiring diagrams on the above listed page minus the igniter due to the 94 coils/ignitors. The 93 harness is in the car with the coils/ignitors having a seperate wiring due to using MS for them. Originally the coils were hooked up to the 93 ignitor, bypassing the ones built into the coils.
After assembling the MS unit it checked out fine. I installed it in the car not too long ago, go to crank the engine, and the coils blew out.
Everything else seems to be working fine, sensors are reading correctly, fuel is being delivered etc.
Should I attach a copy of my saved .msq for more info?
I'm kind of at a loss at the moment.

attached is my .msq, i'm currently running MS1 Extra 029y4 firmware. It came off the installer from DIY autotune (http://www.diyautotune.com/downloads...win_061608.exe)
I loaded that firmware up and entered all my settings before starting the car and such. the attached file should be all my settings

I assume you unplugged the ignitor before flashing firmware, and left it unplugged until you had a map loaded onto the ECU, and then turned the key off, and then plugged it in, and then turned the key on and started the car.
Right?
edit: Nothing obvious to me in the MSQ (no inverted spark).

I was thinking Spark Inverted as well, but it could also be a hardware problem- specifically the spark out mods. The easy test is to power up the MS, and using a voltmeter, measure between each spark output and ground. If you get +5 at all times, then they're set up wrong. You should see 0 volts normally, with occasional blips of +5 while cranking (these blips will likely be too short for most meters to read.)
The key point is to make sure that neither of the spark outs is at +5 all the time when the MS is on but the engine is not running.

You're now a perfect candidate for COP. Do it, you won't regret it. If you indeed decide to pursue the COP option, talk to Savington; he will be your perfect solution.

how are you sparking with a MSQ with no wheel decoder settings?

Did you measure the two ignition outputs of the MS to see what their voltage is in a resting state?
What pointed you to a CAS problem? Is the stock ECU returning a fault code for it, or did you measure its outputs and see that it is producing no signal?

the stock ecu was giving the fault codes for the cas, and ive had a cas die on me about 5 months ago. the code and symptoms are the same as last time(code 4, car starts, runs for about 3-5 seconds then dies). i havent hooked the MS up yet to do diagnostics, been working, havent had time. ill hopefully be able to get it setup and check it out weds after work.
and blowing up stuff has made me a lil terrified to hook it back into the car. I'm going to go over all my settings with a fine toothed comb as well.
personal note for any newbies: buy the stock ecu connector so you dont have to redo the harness, im an ***

in most cases the errors are things like a different WBo2 in your configurator, *F instead of *C....simple things like that.
