Default MS1 to MS3, no spark

Hi,

I am upgradeing ma MS1 with a nes MS3 board, without the MS3X
I also changed the wiring like it was described here, and I also added the 12V to the MS3 board
But I cannot get any spark, fuel looks OK
Any Ideas?

you need to change more than just 12v to js9.

what specifically did you do?

Ok,

I just forget, I have a 90 with a 1,8 engine,

I changend:

opened xg1 to xg2
connected Tachselect to XG1
opened D1 jumper
opened D2 jumper
connected 5V to c30, and with 470 Ohm top JS10
connected js10 to IAC1A
I crossed both ignition wires.

Do you have an RPM signal when you crank it?

It is JS10,
JS11 is empty, it is just a little bend cable.

youre not on c30. your green wire to 5v is off a pin. it's going to r4 or r7 or whtaever; one of the resistors basically.

I need to take better pictures. :-)

It is connected to C30 (next to the C32 pin)

i'd look again. to be sure. that's definitely connected to one of the input resistors, not c30. that's the pullup for the crank input, so I could see why it wouldn't start.

As this did not work,
and I found another thread where someone olso had the same issue,
I wired everythink back as it was before.
(only the ign wire are still crossed, and the additional 12V to the MS3 board are there)

But I only get tons of fuel per squirt and no ignition.
RPM are there when cranking.

What settings should I use with this setting, I am getting confused now.

Here we go:

Comp logger with the modification:

Lots of sync errors.

After I removed the mod again:

Comp logger:

I am missing a signal from the crankshaft right?

here is the msq:

the top one is completely random and doesn't make sense as far as the inputs go.

the bottom one makes sense when it comes to the crank (it's how it should look), but there's no cam input.

what "mod" did you remove?

If you're using JS10 for spark A output, what pin are you using for your 2nd trigger (cam) input?

My CAS is connected to pin24(crank) and pin25(cam)

Edit:
OK, found on the upgrade note
(http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms3/upgrade.html)
that spark should be set to LEDout.
-> Spark A,B,C are available on the LEDs (not FIDLE)

EDIT 2:
Non-MS3X Cam Input
If you do not have the MS3X card, but need a cam input then a little more creativity is required.

If your cam sensor is VR type then you will have to DIY a second VR conditioner circuit - see the MS2/Extra manuals for DIY ideas on this.
If you cam sensor is hall or opto, then you may be able to use the 'spare' opto-isolator input on the V3.0/V3.57 mainboard and route it to JS10 for your cam input. This will be documented in the future.

Does this mean I cannot try the VR input + pullup method described here:
http://msextra.com/doc/ms3/ignition.html#vrv3pull
I wanted to try this out tomorrow to get the missing cam input.
