Default TPS calibration woes

Installed a new tps today. *I still get the same issues as the previous TPS, which I though was a dud. *It calibrates well when key on, engine off. *When engine is on, I only get up to 50% tps at WOT.

Measured the 5v reference, it has no problems (measures 4.9-5v both at key on and while engine is running). *The ground wire seems ok. The signal wire though- something is pulling the voltage down when the engine is running! *

Engine off key on: *foot off- 0.1v; wot- 3.7v
Engine running: *foot off- 0.09v; wot- 2.55v

There is no pulldown resistor on the board (already removed it during the previous tps install attempt).

Ideas? Will post graphs and logs in a bit.

Greg

You normally drive with the engine on, right?
Just calibrate it that way

Well damn. It was the TPS wire! Must have some break in the insulation somewhere. I ran a new wire to check that possibility, and it worked!

Now that the TPS is working...uh what do you guys think of my acceleration enrichments? And yup I ran out of injector...

I got tired of looking for an automatic TPS/throttle body, or a BMW TPS. I figured someone must make a product that fits!

This is the TPS I used:

http://www.farnell.com/datasheets/26181.pdf

Fits right into the D shaft of the manual 1.6 throttle body. I dismantled the stock TPS and drilled holes into the plate:

Then used the cover for a stock look. Once testing is complete, you could even solder the wires to the stock connectors

Manufacturer is Vishay, but the potentiometer part has Wabash on it. Got it from RS Online.

Why does yours look like it got chewed up? Clearance for the wiring?
