Default MS3 idle issues

Here are the parts:
MS3x (Rev Built), FIC 775cc injectors, AEM UEGO wideband.

I had the MS3 idling last week good on 305cc injectors, and stock everthing else. I did a ton of work over the weekend, timing belt, new injectors (775cc), BEGI S4 install.

I was finally able to start the car up yesterday for the first time. It started but idles at 1200 (warm) and the AFR is about 15.3 I didn't drive it yet in fear of lean condition.

I changed the injector size in tunerstudio to 775cc, and the target AFR is set to 14.7. There also seems to be a missfire every few seconds. I've checked over all vac lines, everything is tight and connected. Idle is set for closed loop. What am I missing?

What should AFR's at idle be?

Thanks.

if you can idle smoothly at 15.0:1 go for it. otherwise anywhere between 13.0-16.0:1 is acceptable.

there's like one entire tab devoted to a multitude of startup/idle settings, specifically one called closed-loop idle targets...

That as well as the idle screw on the tb, but I'd reserve the latter for last resort

Also if you're idling smoothly at 15.3 that's not a bad thing. That's a good thing. Try to drive it and monitor afr's. if you're under 16 in very low load cruise that's good too. You're not gonna damage anything unless it goes full lean and you actually give it some load (ie: throttle more than a couple %)

I wouldn't touch the idle screw... Thats just asking for trouble.

As for the "tab" I've been looking and searching all morning. That last thing I wanted to do was open another thread about "I'm having trouble with idle" crap. but ya know how it goes. you look an look and it's right in front of you the whole time.

Google "miataturbo tuning idle" or something. We've had so many threads on this.

Also DIYautotune has a couple really helpful write ups on tuning idle

Now I wanna know your legitimate explanation as to why, because quite frankly I'm not convinced you're saying this of your own accord and not just to kiss Scotts cute butt because he seemed to be so against it.

For the record I tuned my '00 to have a flawless idle with both the settings and adjusting the screw just a tad.

So screw you scott

Spoon feeding is offensive to me.

I know that tab, but what needs to be changed in there? I adjusted the duty cycle value without any positive results. I want to get the idle set before moving forward. What value do I need to change in order to reduce RPM?

I'm not looking to be spoon fed. Just asking for advice in where to start looking without ******* **** up. we're all here for the same reasons, well... most of us. I'm new to the ECU tuning just like you were when you started, just because your smarter than everyone doesn't mean you can degrade us all (well I guess it does).

Sorry Master, I still love you.

what firmware are you on? that menu looks old.

but you targets are on the Idle target RPMs on the right...

it looks like you target around 850RPM once warmed up, so I'd be willing to guess your PID settings are not allow you to hit your targets and you should probably tune the car.

That was a sample screen shot from the megasquirt manual. I won't have access to the car until tomorrow and the laptop is with it. I'm running the current version of tunerstudio. I downloaded TS on another laptop last night and poked around everywhere I could find. I'm building a "to -do" list of TS checks to see what I need to change. I looked at my afr1 table and saw that my AFR settings were set to 15.2 (at idle I was at 15.3 on the gauge). I just need to figure out how to drop idle. The cloed loop settings in my current msq are set to idle at 950. I'll attach my msq in a few minutes if anyone cares to check and see if I have anything that looks wrong.

Here is my current msq file. Also attached is an AFR table that I created that I'd like someone to look over to see if I did it ok. I only adjusted the afr numbers, not the Kpa range.
