MSPNP2 connectivity issues
hey guys i plugged my megasquirt pnp2 in and everything was going great. i set my base timing and drove it around. next i installed my turbo kit and started it first time now problem so i shut it off and left for the night. today i plugged it in with the car on accesories and my megasquirt said somthing along the lines of conflicting information that megasquirt cant read so i closed out of the boxes and then started it back up and nothing..... the megasquirt shows three solid lights closest too the connectors. ive re-installed my drivers and set my com to different ones and even hit detect to see if it would pick anything up. I also installed tunerstudio on my friends computer and nothing. anyone have any ideas?
the car is a 96 1.8 with a megasquirt PNP2 (and a begi S4 kit not that it matters

Wait, does the MSPNP2 still has a serial port!?
What operating system is on your computer? Exactly what Serial to USB adapter are you using? (Please get me a link.) Did you plug said adapter into the SAME EXACT USB port you used previously?
I've dealt with this at work several times and I think I might know what your problem is, but I need you to confirm the above to the best of your ability.

Ive tried all my coms at both baud rates and when i hit detect my tunerstudio will stop on the com im using like its going to identify it then it will just continue on like nothing is there
I did the port check and it says
Com4 opened
115200 baud
no connection made
9600 baud
no connection made
1 valid port found

Ok, Its probably a Windows 7 stuck com port issue. I watched Andrew and Abe struggle with this trying to talk to the ECU in Crusher at the T25 and finally think I figured it out about 2 weeks later at the office. Let me remote my machine in the office and find my notes. I'm not saying this is your issue, but it could be, and it can't hurt to try

Chances are that Windows 7 went full retard and thinks the virtual com port it created is in use, and it will not clear it automatically. Try this:
Source: How to Delete Or Clear COM Ports In Use - TheITBros
I get this at work because I have hyperterminal sessions set up for specific COM port virtual serial devices and they get fuxord all the time. I find that I remove the serial to USB converter, follow this process, clear out ALL the unused COM ports, reboot, THEN reconnect the serial to USB adapter I can actually communicate with it again. Its a huge pain in the ***, but it works 100% for me with dealing with virtual COM port devices. You can't really hurt anything because obviously it doesn't work now, so we can't make it not work any worse
Step 1
One thing is to see if hidden devices are taking up the ports:
Click Start > All Programs > Accessories and then click Command Prompt.
Step 2
Type set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 in the Command Prompt and then press Enter.
(you might have to restart your computer after this)
Step 3
Type cd \Windows\system32 in the Command Prompt and then press Enter.
Step 4
Type start devmgmt.msc in the Command Prompt and then press Enter.
Step 5
Click View > Show hidden devices. This will display devices that are not connected to your computer.
Step 6
Now if you expand the section on COM ports, all the COM ports that have ever been created will be displayed, the non present ones being in grey. You can uninstall away anything that you don’t want (right click, select uninstall).

If i am reading you correctly, you plugged it in, set it up, unplugged it, and with the car on, you plugged it it again and thats when it stopped responding?

it was plugged in and i was sitting in my car turning on the overboost protection and the car was not running just with the key turned on. then it said somthing along the lines of "conflicting data megasquirt is unable to read". so i X'ed out of tunerstudio and then tried to re-enter and then it wouldnt connect and hasnt since.

I'm fresh out of ideas on this one pal, hopefully someone here or at DIYautotune can point you in the right direction.

hey guys i told you id update you and i forgot too. What i ended up doing was speaking with a Representative via E-mail and i did the boot jumper method. Its where you crack open the megasquirt and connect two pins together and it will wipe your old firmware so you can re-download your desired firmware. and it worked the car turns over now and i am just waiting to get it tuned. thanks everyone for the input and help i really appreciate it.
F.Y.I if you do the bootjumper on the megasquirt make sure you unplug your ignition coils and also with the megasquirt PNP2 it actually runs off the micro squirt firmware ,it will give you an option while your downloading it.
