Default MX5 MK1 Megasquirt 2 Extra timing out by 180 *approx

Hey everybody,

So I just finally installed my ECU and it wants to start but just ends up popping and banging and maybe every now and then I get a like stumble like I wants to start.

I went to set the base timing and I have found even with max trigger offset of 20 degrees and rotating the cas towards the engine (adding more advance) I can not get the timing marks even any where near the markings on the plastic.

The timing mark on the pulley seems massively off left of the plastic timing mark on the engine.

Its almost like if I removed the advance it could be a whole 180 degrees out...

Brain metioned there is a new setting in version 3.4 of the MS2 extra firmware call "Flip cam polarity" would this fix this issue?

Thanks for any help you can offer guys!

as mentioned in that link i gave you, the spark outputs are reversed from each other.

you need to flip them, or if youre using the stock coils, swap 1 and 4 with 2 and 3 at the coilpack.

I am using stock coils still so ill do that, however would it still be like that even after the two links I removed and the two wires I added?

I showed the pictures in the other thread.

for some odd reason, spark A and spark B outputs are reversed from MSI to MSII.

since you didn't swap them once you upgraded, your car is trying to spark in the reverse order.

Ahh right okay, well I suppose that isnt a massive issue since I can just swap the leads however when I convert to Coil over plug using my 1.8 toyota cops and 1.6 ignitier connection what will I need to do then instead?

Also I just wanna say, massive thanks for all your help it really is appreciated big time

Technically, the outputs aren't reversed. The trigger wheel decoder settings that everyone uses for MS1 are backwards. MS2 is "right".

Well I flipped the cam polarity as that is what phil said for me to try when he responded which didn't work and I actually lost my injectors with it inverted so I swapped it back around and then switch the leads over and it runs.

I managed to set the base timing however its idling at 3K at 12.5-13 AFR so its not a lean issue for sure so I am thinking air leak? since this happens regardless of the idle valve setting or how far the idle screw is adjusted.

Feel free to ban me from the forum, my idle was high because my throttle cable was to tight... haha no leaks though which I am surprised with since I am testing out new thermatec gaskets on the inlet side.
