Ok, I think I finally found the culprits!

Thanks guys. Braineack, on to installing the cops. My car's coils only have 3 pins. Is this correct? I'll upload a pic

yeah, your ecu doesn't get the tach signal from the coils.

if you look at the connectors, 4 should be the same color. black and black/white. ground and 12v.

then you'll have one yellow/brown and one brown, the triggers.

Thanks man. One final question: when I checked your diagram in the Archives section I found 5 wires for my version of the 1.8L (96). The blue one goes to? (it shows 12v). Sorry, I don't want to blow this part. I bought 12 feet of each and I'm going to start with the harness right now.

replace black/white with Blue.

you have two black and two blue, a brown and y/b

correct? 3 + 3 = 6

i looked back at the diagrams. I'll have to redo Lazzer's a bit. the 94-95 is different, with the 5 inputs. (the 5th is the tach). the 96+ only has the 4 inputs (grnd, pwr, spark 1, spark 2) however the colors are different for the power (blue, and white/black)

Now we're talking. Here are 2 pics.

Thanks,

its easy enough.

black is ground. all four cops share that. easy.

black/white is power. all four cops share that. easy

brown is a trigger. 1 and 4 share. easy.

yellow/brn is another trigger. 2 and 3 share. easy.

i'm pretty sure you can handle it without any diagrams what-so-ever.

I guess I'm dense. I hope you don't mean that I blew it.

As per your instructions:

1.- Black - Ground to all coils
2.- White - power to all coils
3.- Blue - Trigger to 1 & 4
4.- Yellow - Trigger to 2 & 3

Tomorrow morning; extensive use of black electrical tape to make my harness (we don't have that fancy black wraparound cover you guys have:gay. Cut original coil plugs and tie:

Black with black
Black/white with White
Blue with brown and yellow with brown/yellow.

About the color of the wires; that's is what we get locally.

If I'm wrong I better get that info tonight.

p.s. I forgot; we're going to solder them also.

Hey Chad, everything going well? you think I don't want to? That wiring was my first wiring job ever! I've already contacted a close friend with an electronics background and he's coming tomorrow morning to tidy up this thing, solder and cover the wires. Braineack just scared the hell out of me with his Mexico remark.

BTW, I got the db9 to usb cable with the adapter so I'll try to fire the car up from my own laptop tomorrow (crossing fingers).

Thanks,

Rafa

Sounds like a plan. Should work out great for you. Just make sure to use that folder i sent you. I strongly suggest removing your other megatune files and just using the one i made available for you. That way everything is setup right and you won't have any conflicting issues.

I'm leaving all that up to Manny

I don't want any more issues.
