I used a cheap one from newegg for 9 bucks and it was flawless and now im using a Belkin converter which according to my friend has a opto voltage isolator or some other non sense and it works flawlessly too.
Personally my recommendation to people with firmware and megatune problems is to run memtest on their computers and check for bad ram. Since all of these programs store **** temporarily in ram before writing and are memory heavy constantly reading and writing if you got errors it will be corrupting your ****.

I highly recommend the onboard USB logic converter from DIY. When I bought my new notebook the usb converter wasn't working for ****. It would lose comms every few seconds. I installed their onboard adapter and everything is groovy again.
The reason I mention this is that a lot of your problems could be a result of bad flashes and/or lost packets during MSQ burn. If you have communication problems it's hard to to be sure that all the info got into the unit.

The USB-2920 should work great, I've used it on a ton of different laptops with good results. That doesn't mean there aren't troublesome ones out there, but it's a good adapter from what I can find. As for it being too short... it comes with an 30" extension in the package, with that attached to an MSPNP tunecable I've never come up short.
The lastest drivers can be downloaded from our main software page at https://www.diyautotune.com/softwarelinks.htm

so I finally got the car started at work today, and on the same map I drive to work on, the car is idle-oscillating from 1500-3500rpm, and wouldn't start on the same map which it started from this morning. This morning it idled fine at 14.7-15.1AFR at idle. Hopefully its something like the IAC because i think the tune is pretty solid. I also assume the USB controller is fucked up because now I get communication between the computer and the ECM, but it won't burn any changes.
So much for putting the 1.9l motor in next weekend. I may **** with it tomorrow, but I have to pack for vacation. Thanks for the help anyway guys.
Matt, thanks for the support on this deal. I'm going to jack with it on my time, so don't sweat the issues I've had. I'll do everything I can to work it out on my own, and I'm going use a friend's computer (who's about to buy a 1.8 pnp from you) and see if I can get it to work. I know we'll get it worked out eventually. If I have to stick the forged motor in here and drive it to GA on the factory computer with the wastegate open to figure this out, I will.
I must throw down the TOD at "Miatas at Hallett" this year.
