I thought you were supposed to use the open element sensor because it reacts a lot faster? Or is he just using closed because he has WI?

He needs a closed element because the WI will destory a open element sensor.
Pre WI you want open element.

uh that's the 1st I've heard :(

how does water damage the element? surely if it can stand IAT of 90degC + (A/W intercooler water pump failed...) it can handle a bit of atomised water?

I guess to clarify, i meant to say the mixture of water and methanol could damage the thermistor in the sensor. I really don't know first hand, obviously not running WI over here myself and never have in the past. Atomised water would hopefully be fine for the sensor like you said considering the conditions it lives though.
If he plan to install it in the intake path, he should look into squirting some silicone into the cage behind the tip of the thermistor to support the leads of the sensor under the vibrations seen in the intake mani, especially considering his solid MMR motormounts.

See rich, not so hard to listen to people once in a while.
Maybe we shouldn't have helped him get spark working, now's he's going to advance the F*#K out of his timing even more so.

i am gonna take it easy for now, but this mightprompt some dyno time. I also still need to adress my voltage issues. Scot FWIW i had to switch my coils from 1 set to another for some reason as well i think the wires where probably backwards in MS but i can live with having my plug wires on the wrong coil. Atleast until i do a GM hei mod or something similiar.

yeah i was going to suggest you may to swap them around if it didn't crank over....i might have said that.

if you look at the baor di posted above my wires off the LEDs cross. really depends on how the harness was built.

You should go COPs, Ben has .04 plug gaps and something line 12-15 psi. Probably work just fine for you. Would be a hell of alot cleaner than throwing more **** in your engine bay to do the HEI mod.

right now hei brings some good voltage for a cheap price how much is Ben charging for the COP's
BTW my first spark enabled datalog. But the damn USB keeps on throwing resets this is the best one i have gotten so far. I dunno if it is my laptop's ports doing it or what but it sucks. :( Hmm it seems that mlv is lowering my spark numbers for some reason. this is my real chart here. I dunno why MLV is showing different.

Can MLV even touch your spark value? Those look pretty retarded in the non-boosted cells anyway. I'm at least 2 or 3 degrees up on you under 4000rpm.

I dunno but for some reason the log file and what i have on my table + megatune display don't jive. Since WG only worked well i will throw more boost at it and see if i can't do better. FWIW it feels good, we shall see how more boost does. The idle etc is alot better anyway.
