Depends on how you're planning on using it. Personally I like the size of the Nexus 7 for my needs and think something as large as my iPad would be too bulky.

couple questions

I see the in the bluetooth adaptor's description this: Powered by Pin 9 or supplied power adapter

Are all MS using Pin 9 to power?

Packaging constraints under the dash are tight, and I will have to use a serial cable. This cable should work with MS2 and the bluetooth, right?

Don't know about every MS, but it works without modifications on my Reverant built MS2. That cable should be fine.

Took a little drive today and did some logging with Shadow Dash. Fantastic little app, works great and makes data logging a snap. First time I ever got a decent log to import into virtual dyno and actually remembered which gear was used for the pull.

Not all MS do, but there's a jumper on the DIYPNP units to send power to pin 9. There are some times when you may not want to power pin 9 though, so YMMV.

I did the jumper swap on my DIYPNP, works just fine with the BT adapter that EFI sells.

When I am out logging pulls and need to remember which gear I am in I hit the spacebar on my laptop the number of times for the gear I am in. That way when I pull up the log in MLV I can count the marks then know the which gear the next pull is in.

Can we display oil temp and oil pressure (obviously input to MS) with this? I'd love to dump all my gauges for a 7" tablet that fits in the dash/cluster.

Brilliant. I can figure out which gear im in by just playing around in virtual dyno, though... I know I chose the wrong gear in VD when my WOT pull gives 80hp or 800hp. It's pretty simple to figure that out.

I just installed the Shadow Dash APK and have not connected it to the car yet. I only have one dashboard, is this normal? Is there some way to get get the others in green or blue, or "make a new dash"?

You need to head over to the actual MS forums and post in the TS section about those questions. Phil is very active there and should be able to quickly reply to you about those.

Yup, I have oil temp via a gm coolant sensor in my oil pain going to a ms3x analog in, made the dash in tunerstudio and copied it to the tablet which works every bit as good as tuner.studio... Even shows my pwm out gauge that shows what duty cycle I'm sending to my fuel pump controller.

More info on using GM coolant temp sensor for oil temp.

Tap it into your pan and set up a generic sensor input, not much to it really.

Read dis: Megasquirt-3 MS3 Generic Sensor Inputs

its easy, though you want a 2.49k bias resistor, I'm using a 2.47k and its 'close enough' it seems.

The idle is jacked when connected, but otherwise this is cool. It's nice to take a log on the phone, go upstairs and review it on the computer, make minor adjustments, save new MSQ to the phone, then get in the car for work the next day, load the tune, drive to work.

Shadow logger works fine but shadow dash loses connection constantly, anyone have any issues like this?

This would be sweet passenger entertainment, since my wife complained she couldn't watch the MTX-l blinky lights since it is in the vent by the driver door.
