Replace it with a known good one and see if the problem goes away?

Seriously, I had similar issues with, I think, the same vintage MS3-Basic. Is it the larger (longer) case version?

I fixed by adjusting the FW filters on the Crank Sensor. I can get you the settings I use when I get home this evening. Changing Sensors did not help. There are no pots to adjust, it uses optical isolation circuit, not VR circuit.

Wow. That’s all I have. Ian (Codrus) had a friend add some capacitors to his input circuits. I don’t recall the details.

Funny, when I switch-off the "check engine light" function, the car works fine. Turn it back on and I lose crank signal. Weird. Car works now.

Stealing your filter settings fixed the issue with my 2000 with Brain Built MS3X. For me this is a new issue that just started showing up a month or so ago. I assume there's a physical issue with the sensor/wiring somewhere that's causing it, but the filter settings seem to have cured it for now. Thanks for sharing!

We basically disconnected the MS3 HC11 inputs at the connector to the MSlabs board, built new filters, and then rerouted it to a pair of unused pins on the Mazda connector.
