Tablet running ms gauges
I did search but didn't find what i was looking for before i got lazy.
Goal, To be able to tune and log from a tablet (non tablet pc if i can). Also to run live gauges as a home made dash on the tablet. I know it's easier to tune with a key bored as all the real tuning will be done with a laptop but would like to be able to on the fly log and make changes from my cool *** tablet dash bored.
What is a good tablet to look into for this application, guessing a windows 7 tab with a usb port so i can install drivers and all that goodness for db9 adapter but also looking into wireless/bluetooth ones.
edumacate me.

How much are you looking to spend on a windows 7 capable tablet?
Not quite what you're going for, but I picked up this:
And will be grabbing one of these:
(wiznet RS232->TCP/IP converter)
To build a datalogger/monitoring display and possibly make changes to the VE/Timing tables (if I get really ambitious).
Total cost will be <$225

The machine is a Fujitsu Stylistic 3400, circa 1999. It's got 64 megs of RAM and a 400 Mhz Pentium III. This one is running Windows 2000.
On the plus side, these machines are cheap as hell. There are some slightly newer versions that run a tad faster, but even this one perfectly adequate for running MegaTune, although I never got TunerStudio working on it.
On the minus side, all of these machines are fairly old, so the batteries are dead and the touchscreens are starting to get a bit flaky.
I'd love to use something like an Android tablet instead.
There does appear to be some development work going on in this direction, but I've not heard of any actual, functioning software yet.
If you're willing to spend the money ($420 and up), any Win7 tablet which has a USB port will work just fine- just a matter of personal taste at that point. I'd like this one: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...522&CatId=6958
There are also some Windroid tablet starting to come out which, in theory, give you the best of both worlds.

Non pc tablet is your ipad/netpad stile tables where there is no keybored.
Want to get one with at lest 1 usb in and little bit of searching shows me there are a lot of options for that.
Did look at the Windroid and it would have a removable mount so i can use it for more then the car. But would want to mount it where the oem gauges are.
Might just pick one up from fry's and test for a week then return it.
would http://www.megamanual.com/com/bluetooth.html work with Reverant's MS2? Guessing it's all universal serial.

can always try something like a dell inspiron duo, although a bit expensive for what you get hardware wise. maybe used? before i bought a cheap netbook for tuning, i was thinking about a trying a tablet or something, but cost was a big factor. decided to go with a used $125 netbook that usually goes for $250 new
it's just a matter of time until someone releases a windows tablet that isn't a rip off, or just wait for the stuff now to be old and cheap

The 12 year old machine I use is a tablet then; no keyboard except the on-screen display.
The newer Stylistic machines are also pure tablets.

At 10.1 x 5.4, this machine is one of the smallest of the current-available tablets, and it runs Win7.
