I has a 9093MSPNP modified by DIY for VTPS
Found an OEM male connector at the junk and wired it to a BMW TPS.
Used the 3 shielded wires only

BLK +5 V
BRWN Grnd
YELLOW Signal

Wanted to know if this looks correct before i hook it up this weekend

is there a "how-to" on modifying the 9093 for variable tps? I want to send my car to the dyno this weekend, but would really like to hook up the tps before it goes.

Is it ok to convert to TPS later, or will that require more tuning? I'd like to pay to tune it once, and be done with it...set it and forget it.

 

TPS is only good for boost duty, over-run(not even that needed) and acceleration enrichment.

I dont think anything else uses TPS.

 

Shockingly, DIY chose to hide this information from the public by printing it right in the MSPNP manual. Specifically, it's in Section Five: Modifying your MSPNP.

As Sam said, assuming you run in speed-densnity mode, the TPS does not influence the VE calculation except during TPSaccel. Since you're doing your tuning steady-state on a dyno, accel should not come into play.

I'm away from home this week and don't have access to my good wiring diagrams, but it's easy enough to figure out whether the TPS is wired properly- just stick it on the car and observe the TPS value of the MS by looking at the RealTime Display window in megatune. Does it go up when you press the pedal, and down when you release it? (Don't forget that you need to run the TPS Calibration wizard.)

 

for 90-93 it is supposed to fix the idle droop/dieing issues as per this...so it is most definitely not useless.

 

how dare they hide that ****. I've never soldered a board before...is this something I should consider researching and doing...or just ship it to DIY?

I don't have a lot of time, so I was just going to let BEGi tune it on their standard dyno. Is this a mistake? I could take it to Tuning Concepts for the same amount of money, but then I'd have to be there to work the software.

 

Surely there must be someone in the greater Dallas - Ft. Worth area who knows how to solder. Might call Bell and see if someone there is able to do the mod. This really is very basic Electronics 101 level stuff.

 

I'm in Austin now, and the last thing I need to do is **** up on my work, and be stuck down here with a car I must get towed back to dallas.

 

Man up, you can do it. Get a soldering iron, some desoldering braid and some solder, find some junk computer parts and practice for 5 minutes, you'll get the hang of it real quick.

Its removing 2 resistors and connecting 2 wires.

 

By Calibration Wizard you mean, Megatune>Tools>CalibrateTPS>Get Current?

Should closed throttle read "0" or does it need to have a minimal value?

The easiest would be from a '90-'93 automatic Miata, or any other B6 car (Escort / Probe, 323, etc) that used the same device.

Mine came from a B18C Honda. It required some physical modification to fit.

I failed at radio shack this morning. In for more, repeated failure. I need to just go to a junkyard and chop one off the harness.

 

yes, and many cars share the connector.

 

I'd love for some examples because I'm in the dark on this **** and I'd prefer to not take the t-body off to check fitment at the junkyard.
