Default Tunerstudio dies under boost.

This is a strange one. Over the last few weeks I've been trying to determine the cause of an issue. When running tunerstudio, in particular when using VEanalyze live, when I romp the gas and get into boost, Tunerstudio freezes and then disconnects. I've tried simulating things that might cause it, such as slowly running the engine to high RPMs, and slowly going into boost. Everything is fine until I go to WOT in a low gear. It's almost as if TS can't handle the sudden change in conditions.

I've attached the last datalog that cuts off when I go into boost, as well as the msq.

I reflashed the MS, and it took forever. Much longer than in the past. Perhaps a crappy USB cable?

Either way, I started a new project, loaded the tune and calibrated all the sensors. During warmup, it froze and died again. That's the first time it's died at idle. I'm beginning to suspect that my computer cannot handle the influx of information through the USB port.

I'll keep posting as I troubleshoot.

I notice I have similar issues when I have my laptop on the charger when tunning. The only way I can keep it from disconnecting is by making sure the laptop is charged up before I tune. Not sure if this helps.

Computer and specs?

I use one of the first notebooks ever made and it doesn't seem to have a problem. But it does have a USB 2.0 port. Maybe find out if the USB is 2.0. I didn't think USB 1.0 was used for like 10 years now though.

It's not that old, and it's worked fine for the past year. At the moment I am suspecting a broken wire in the usb cable. It only cuts out when I get on it, no other time. I managed to make it cut out also by wiggling the cable around. I'm going to pick up a new cable at lunch and try it.

Could also be the port too. If it has another port, try it before spending money...

It happens with all the ports. Funny, On my hour long leisurely drive in to work this morning, it didn't cut out once. Right before I got to the parking lot, I stomped it and sure enough, it cut out again.

I'll be picking up a cable in about an hour. Will report results.

Got a new cable. 15 ^%$ dollars at Wal-mart.

Not really sure if it fixed the problem though. I did a 1-2-3 pull and it didn't crash in the usual way. It stayed connected but it did freeze up as I was slowing down. The little blue line at the top of the screen when it's processing information kept running on and on, but then it just froze up. I'm going to try and re-install TS to see if that changes anything.

I had the exact same problem and it was the cable. I tried 3 or 4 different cables. The only thing that helped was running serial cable all the way from MS to laptop with the serial to usb converter plugged into the laptop.

Well, I'd love to say it was the cable but I've taken several logs now and it seems to die when hitting 135kpa at <4000rpm. I'll continue to post as I troubleshoot.

What I meant was for me, using any length of USB would cause it to disconnect. FYI I have a Reverant MS2E from early/mid 2012

Possibly hard drive shock protection. Like this: Active Protection system overview - ThinkPad General

Can you barrow a friends laptop and load your tune up and see if it happens. That may narrow it down a bit.

Default *SOLVED*

FOUND IT!

Somehow the COM4 port under Hardware settings on my laptop got switched to 9600 baud. Unsure if it happened during the last computer update, but I reset it to 11520 and everything works fine now. I couldn't get it to go offline no matter how hard I flogged it.

Thanks for all the help guys!
