Default Why does my T.S. look different than eveyone elses?

Trying to tune this 95 1.5,no turbo. I am getting know where. when search for help in other threads, references and settings look and sound completely different than mine. My tunerstudio is asking for different information than other builds that I look at. I have like six tabs at the top (I think, I don't have it open now) but everyone else has much fewer than I do. Idle settings in particular. mine asks what type of idle valve I am running. I don't know.. The one the car came with. when i look at other tunes, this isn't asked. what gives? with so many differences in the t.s. layout, it is making this tune very difficult.

I am actually kind of burnt out on this. I don't get a lot of free time and the last four days I have been able to free up over the course of a month have just been really unproductive and not much fun. I am at the point where I am willing to pay for help via, paypal. pm me if you are interested.

Isn't it firmware dependent as to what tabs and settings are available?
What is the info about the ms you're trying to tune?

Then why don't you go here and start at the first step and work through it;
MS2/Extra Tuning guide

At least it's up to date and relevant to your ECU. You could be looking a threads that are 3 years old.

You can even download a manual and print it; Megasquirt firmware downloads

The other questions, i.e. what kind of xxx do I have is pretty easy to find using either Google search or searching on this site.

EDIT: Also, if you haven't yet it's worth it to pay for Tunerstudio to get the added features. But you still need to tune the idle yourself.

What's it doing now?

ms2.
Believe me, I learned my lesson about getting on here and posting without searching first. maybe I am not searching correctly, but is is not clear what type of idle valve I have. many searches turn up results for 1.6 engines and the rest apply to settings for ms3. I do not have ms3 so i do not know if the settings apply to me.
I did buy the tunerstudio, but like i said, a lot of the information does not seem to align with what i see on my screen. In another post, I was told that I would not see certain things on the DIYPNP. this is what makes it hard. megamanual says things like "go to engine constants", I do not have an engine constants tab or subsection.again, small differences like that make this frustrating. nothing worse than searching every single column on every tab, only to find out that it doesn't even exist on my version.
I am not an idiot and have a pretty keen understanding of how engines work. I just have never tuned an ecu or used tunerstudio before. I see people get flamed everyday for asking before looking and have learned from that. believe me, I cringed as hit the post button.

I read that i should get the car to idle in open loop first. failed, skipping the warm idle and going to try and follow the pwm closed loop instructions.

you didnt fail. getting the car to open open loop first was for people that couldn't invest 10 minutes into learning how to tune.

Sorry but you haven't searched hard enough or used good search words. Plus if you have a decent automotive background you would know that you have a PWM idle valve and that it has two wires. Also, the latest TS has little question marks next to every tab with a quick but decent explanation of what it does. As for the valve frequency, search "idle valve frequency" and you will find a thread that has the frequencies for different years.

If you have never done this before, expect a learning curve. This instant gratification we have gotten used to is just making us learn less every day.

Like i said earlier, I know better than to just post a question without looking pretty damn hard first. I wish I could post a log of the hour spent searching for my questions you may be right though, perhaps I am not searching correctly, but its not like Im typing "candy canes" and then expecting to find help with identifying what idle valve my 95 1.8 uses.google, turbomiata or otherwise. I do know that if you have found information before, it makes it much easier to find it again, you remember the words you searched with, the thread info was found in and in some cases even the page of the thread where your info was hiding, all of this making it easy to tell someone " you idiot, just search xxx and its on page xx.
I understand what you are saying though.
I am going to find and print the directions on setting the closed loop idle and see what happens.
