Why is my AFR so noisy?

It seems an earlier quote by Innovate could ring true. I've read on the Innovate forum about the LM-programmer not storing settings when they are changed from their default values. The advice there was to update to the latest firmware. (which is located on the splash page when you boot up).

A little rich at and coming off idle will ride nicely. Lean spots will surge or buck. The fuel economy penalty for running a tad rich at light load will be very small.

It also looks like you allow autotune to affect changes in the idle area. I prefer to tune idle by hand and then restrict the autotune to not make changes in light load by setting up the filter on the VE analyze dialog box.
Stock injectors, no autotune since I'm using TS (runs with Vista for me). I'll get to tuning cruise tonight when traffic dies. I'm going to try and connect again and program LC-1 to use lambda later also. According to TS it should be 0-5v : 0.5-1.5 lambda. It's a bit scary since I freeze up the gauge reading when I fail to connect, makes me think I'm breaking it. Much appreciated you guys.

I got the latest firmware just by downloading it from their main site. It's a miracle when I even connect : /. I might try buying their usb/serial adapter straight from them later on in the future.

The auto tune feature is the slang term for VE Analyzer in megalogviewer, which obviously works for you.

Try cleaning off the headphone plug serial connectors. I used a little bit of rubbing alcohol, and it helped clear up some communications issues I was having. Then when you connect them, snap them firmly and spin all the way around. Make sure that contact is solid.

I'll try that. I think my log is just from lack of tuning, I didn't use VE analyzer for anything over 80~ KPA. I did scale the whole table to run a bit rich since I was deathly afraid of it leaning out. My 45-50 mph cruise ain't bad, but that's all I've done since. Thanks for the tip Ben.

I waited until 1 a.m. so I can get this nice piece of road for myself. Went outside to start car, took 3 tries to start it and the battery died also from cranking. Realized that I tighten my CAS bolt a while ago, so I decided to check my timing in case. Couldn't get a signal from plug #1, but plug#2 and #3 were fine. Opened up the plugs and plug#1 had gas on it, while the others were lean (just as my AFR said). No spark on plug#1 also when placed on valve cover. Swapped to my extra coils and still same result -_-.

Horrible luck! I'm ordering some spark wires, these spark plugs have less than 100 miles on them!

Did you swap your wires to make sure that was the problem? Sounds like a bad MS connection to me. Is #4 working? If so, then yeah, I guess it'd be wires. If not, I bet it's MS connection

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I've been getting some serious fluctuations from my LCII wideband also. Can't seem to tune with it ... that's no surprise given this output, right?

I've doublechecked my ground ... anything else that might be going on here?

Thx...

How is your AFR at idle? That's a huge jump from 3400->4000.

Yeah, that map is kind of a disaster, after tuning against that messy O2 signal.

I went out and re-checked all the ground wires just now ... turns out there WAS a ground problem. I fixed it and the signal looks a lot better now. Going to start over and retune. Weird thing now is that above 3500 or so in higher gears I'm running really rich (<10 AFM).

Joe Perez posted a pretty good AFR target table a while ago, search for that, and use TS to autotune your fuel table.

What did you fix on your ground? Mine is still too noisy for my liking. I don't feel safe tuning : (.

I have both grounds from the LC II soldered to a lug, and I attached the lug with a new nut on an existing screw at the rear passenger side of the engine. Other wires are grounded at this point, and I believe this is where the ECU is grounded as well. I hadn't tightened the bolt very well, and so the lug was a little loose. After tightening it down my signal cleaned right up.

The main ground point is not at the back of the engine, but on the front of the intake manifold. Mybe you could try this point.

Sven - I saw that ground point as well, but as near as I could tell the leads from the ECU grounded at the rear of the engine. I seem to remember reading somewhere that this was the case as well. I'm not sure though. Do you have a source?
