WTF! Killed my ecu?
i'm so confused and so fustated. i tied to enable launch contol last night and couldn't get it to bun to the ecu. i hooked up my cable and opened megatune with the car running and as long as megatune was open the LC worked but i couldn't change anything like what revs it engages at. just now i fooled around trying to get it to work and when i gave up and drove home the car ran rough. so i tried to load the saved file from the dyno and when i hit burn it killed the engine. now it wont start and megasquirt is saying that it cant read from the tuning cable. WTF happened?

How are you running launch control, did you add a switch or anything? Make any wiring changes at all? Does the car crank? Cams rotate? Has fuel? Has spark?

it turns over. at the bottom of the megatune screen the little box that says "fuel pump" is not lit up like it normally is. i'm working on reloading the firmware. when i said it can't read from the cable i mean when i connect the cable and go online, the guages on the main screen don't read anything and when i try to burn the saved maps it gives me a bunch of pop up windows that each say cannot connect to page 1, 2, 3, ...,13. oh and KPLAFIN. i,M SOrrY i*M nOt aS OcD abOUT PuNcTuAtIoN aNd SPeLLINg

It sounds like your firmware was corrupted before you got to that point (can't save certain settings to the ECU) but it's been my experience that the few seconds you might save by not shutting down the engine before loading an entire .msq are not worth it considering the variety of problems that can result. I do keep it running if I'm importing a new VE table as a .vex, but for a whole .msq I'd advise shutting her down first.

ok everyone. thanks for the input. i had to chill out for a day because i was getting really frustrated and my furnace broke so i didn' have a warm place to come to after working in the cold. i came out just now to work on it and thought i'll try to start it- what could it hurt- and it worked! i let it warm up and took it for a test drive. it had a pretty rough stumble that smoothed out after a few minutes. this isn't typical but i was thinking that the cold weather could have caused it (when i started it i had to let the clutch out slowly because it wanted to stall if i did it fast). also, i'm getting a warning from megatune when i try to open it with the tuning cable connected and the car running. "Controller code version does not match signature in MSnS-extra.ini. ...... Table corruption may occur, this is usually a very serious problem...." could this be from the serial-usb cord? thanks again.
