What a difference. I have the basic setup, but the butt dyno tells me the power is better, smoother. There is no more pinging at all. I have the pressure switch set at 4psi. Best $$$$ I have spent on the roadster in a long time. The install didnt take that long. The most time was taken when I had to run the tubing from the rear to the front of the car. The bottle and the pump are in the truck.

This is installed on a 1996 JRSC running 8psi, non intercooled. I freaking love it. WOT is da man!

Let me get the bottle mount done and I will. I have a Devils Own 1 Galon bottle, I have it bungied right now...I have an idea about a mounting bracket, but I will need to make a trip to the Home Depot. The pump is mounted to a board and secured with the spare tire bolt. The boost switch is in the trunk too, easy access next to the pump, relay, and it the had the least boost line to run. I tapped the pressure switch into the boost line that feeds the powercard, located behind the passenger seat. Then I found an ignition wire that feeds the power antenna. For those that have a 96, it is the blue and white wire.

It is clean and the intrusion into the trunk space is minimal.

 

Cool, sounds good man. I absolutely love WI, opens up more tuning issues.

 

Am I the only one who hasn't been WOWed by WI so far?

The last time I unplugged my Aquamist relay, it felt exactly the same. I wonder if I should be increasing the boost to take advantage of the WI?

 

I believe that the tuning of the WI is key in the WI really waking the car up. You can put a lot more timing back into the mix, better power. Plus I can mix methanol in the tank and richen up my afr's, and up the boost a little.

 

96: what're you running in it? water or some alcohol %?

 

I'm not running any timing retard other than the OEM ECU.

 

What do you have your base timing set at. The WI without any tuning won't really make a difference. Depending on how much boost you are running, I get away with only pulling 2 degrees of timing at 8 psi, and my base timing is set at 12 degrees btdc. I also am using methanol in there too, which gives me a little richer afr's, which helps to combat the knock a little more. Also the methanol absorbs a little more heat.

 

I am running around 10~12PSI and whatever the stock timing is on a 99.

 

Right now I am running the blue stuff. I want to get my feet wet with that
1st before I start mixing stuff. I am running a base 14*, then timing is pulled from there. I was getting a mild ping on full acceleration, higher rpms, on hot days. I will bring the timing back to about a little, if necessary, when I install the BBK.

I mounted the bottle this morning using an L braket and a fabbed support. Three bolts, washers, and nuts and it was done. The camera is charging so I will take pics either later today or tmro.

 

Glad to have another happy Devils Own user. Lets see that install.

 

Also, to remedy the ping, increase pressure from the pump just a little. See if that helps.

 

No more ping, that was before WI. Sorry if I wasnt clear in my statement. However, I will store that advice away for the summertime if I need it!!!
