Brain-built MS1 with Parallel Harness - Available, no longer a feeler
Braineack-built Megasquirt 1. V3.0 board and parallel / "boomslang" - type harness.
This is easily converted to a standalone and upgradeable to MS2 or MS3. Currently set up for 94-97 1.8.
$300 + ship and PP.

This was originally built for a 1.6. A couple wires in the harness need to be moved and I think there's something different about the fuel pump setup between the 1.6 and 1.8. It's fairly simple to switch, but in all honesty I would buy the $100 MS2 chip and upgrade it. If I'm not mistaken MS2 is much more straightforward as well as more refined and powerful.

Just to answer a question I got via PM - There is nothing whatsoever wrong with this unit; it is currently running my car. The few good tuners around here are most familiar with AEM stuff, so I am going this route.

Brain has a writeup here on upgrading to MS2, I really think that's the way to go. MS2 is much more powerful. Looks pretty simple and folks here are really helpful.

This thread is hard to find because he used "MS-II" it doesn't come up when searching MS2 upgrade, MS2, or MS-2.

Same amount of hard as MS2 (see link above). It's easy. MS3 board is $200, case is like $40. MS3x is another $90-100 I think, but that's not strictly necessary and can be added later. This is exactly what I was planning to do if I kept it, in fact. MS2 upgrade is even cheaper. ~$100 for the board and no new case required.
