Looking to buy one of these or help building one. If I build one do I need a arduino to program it? I've never messed with one if so.

Nope. You need an FTDI serial-usb chip to program the bluetooth module. Then you can program the GPS over bluetooth.

Okay is there any guide oh how to program them somewhere so I can give it a shot or is this something that I should start off with smaller easier projects first to get practiced up?

Its super simple. Connect 4 jumper pins and send a command. I'm not sure if I ever wrote something up but its really simple to do.

Would you consider open sourcing the plans so that others can build them if you aren't planning to do another run?
