MKTurbo Black Friday 2025 Sales Thread
So... I no longer have a Miata (it was stolen recently). I may be looking for someone to buy my spot in the group buy if it doesn't get recovered. I was signed up for a 1.8L NA setup. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Looking good!
That really sucks man, I'm sorry.

The discussion of porting happened way back, but I'm throwing this here anyway. There has been much talk of channel engorgement, but what about hole enlargement? The flapper is 28mm in diameter and the hole is 18mm. If I leave 3mm around the outside that should increase airflow at a given pressure by 50%. Is 3mm enough of a seat? Should I expand more? Just checking in before this turbo goes under the knife.
The outline is where the flapper seats.

Yeah, the channel argument smacks of pseudo science since you are dealing with a pressurized chamber. Did you do any channeling or just boring out the hole and making space for the flapper to open more?

Hardly any channeling, the wall of the turbine housing is exceptionally thin in that area on mine for some reason.

I agree with you, there will be more of a pressure drop with a larger hole, then nature will suck the waste from the gate instead of over-spooling. I am able to run 7psi to redline without spike, and boost control responds well.

Okay, as an experiment I'm not going to do any channeling and see if I can control boost creep list by enlarging the hole.

I am hoping to have 1.8 NB setups shipping around the end of the month. Then 1.8 NA will start shipping sometime in December. 1.6 setups won't be until sometime in the new year. Hoping to average about 1 setup a week. That may vary though just because I like doing things in batches. So it may be nothing goes out for 3 weeks, then I ship 3 setups in a few days.
Right now I am working on getting all the manifolds built. I am in the process of welding the logs to the flanges. I can do about 2 a day, simply because I have to give the flanges time to cool on my aluminum heat sink.
While I have been working on manifolds I have also been working on NB setups. I have 2 NB axle backs done. The third I may get tacked together this afternoon. I have 3 of the upper sections of downpipes tacked together.
If you are in the group buy and want a more exact date, then shoot me an email. I can't say when exactly it will go out, but I can give you an idea about where you are on the list and such.

So some quick updates. Local hydraulic shop was able to duplicate the T3 turbo gaskets that a few people have bought off eBay to use. I will now be shipping one of those with each setup. The order was also put in to get all the lines made. I forgot that next week is Thanksgiving so the lines probably won't be done until sometime in start of December. Hydraulic shop does not have enough fittings in stock to make the 15 drain and 15 feed lines I need, so getting the fittings shipped to them is the hold up there. I have boxes on order now also. They should be done the start of December.
Just finished up swapping my 181k mile oil burning motor for a earlier 104k mile healthy one. Threw in some goodies like an ACT fly wheel, FM clutch and also some custom headers that came off my parts car. getting her ready to get boosted in the spring. Keep up the awesome updates Larz!
