I see, thanks. I thought you were talking about actually shortening the thing somehow.

Sorry for the inconvenience to those who already got theirs. |
If anyone messes up an injector when cutting off the plastic bit, tell me what number it was and I'll send you a new one that matches your set.

It definitely used to be a picture of some kick ass injectors in an engine. -edit- the image is back to normal, must have just been a weird caching thing or something. |

Okay people, I've removed a bunch of these plastic bits using pliers, and it is working pretty well for me. This is how I'm doing it:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/g4qfwskyvv...11.31.mov?dl=0 If you take this approach, be super careful, as one little slip and you end up with this: https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...ine=1426613378 I'm going to have that one re-flow tested and if it comes back with the same numbers, I'll use it in my car. Anyone found a slightly lower risk way to do this? If anyone who bought a set of these injectors from me is not comfortable removing that black piece, I can send you a shipping label to send your injectors back to me and I'll send you a set with the black piece removed. |
I used cutters, and cut vertical on the black piece. Did that like 4 times on different sides and the black pieces fell off.

Hint (from experience);
If you have a small soldering iron (and who on this site doesn't) melt a small groove in one part all the way down to metal + put your thumb for leverage behind the plastic and using a small flat blade screwdriver just pop the ring off. No risk of screwing up the pintle. :idea: |

Nigel, I'd like to buy a set of the injectors and your PNP kit. I live and work in the Sunnyvale area so we can avoid shipping and Paypal if you're open to meeting some time this weekend.

By the way, you are a serious lurker! 3 posts in 8 years? Impressive. |
