The Basic MS3 doesn't support it out of the box. If you want it, we need to discuss about it as it requires adding an extra circuit to handle the additional wheel speed sensor.

tuckermon 02-23-2013 02:22 PM

I just realized that.. Sorry for jumping the gun.

Amellrotts 02-23-2013 02:27 PM

what does it cost? And how does it work, cutting fuel I assume?

Reverant 02-23-2013 02:35 PM

It can retard timing, cut the ignition, remove boost, or add fuel.

Amellrotts 02-23-2013 03:25 PM

Nice, sign me up! Lets ad it to my MS3. Thank you!

Your ecu comparison sheet says that the Basic MS3 does have traction control. Does it at least support a limited version of traction control that doesn't use two VSS and instead detects abnormal acceleration?

Amellrotts 02-23-2013 09:30 PM

I believe it is an option, there is an extra circuit to be installed is my understanding....

Read the spreadsheet (MS Labs ECU Comparison Sheet), it doesn't say it is an option. But it clearly states that the RTC and knock are options.

Not that it matters since I already have mine.

Amellrotts 02-23-2013 09:40 PM

I am just telling you what he has said to me in emails. He is building mine now, in fact it ships Monday.....I HOPE!

redturbomiata 02-23-2013 09:45 PM

waiting for the day i get the wonderful PM that mine is being made/shipped.

Traction control is available on yours, as a pure software function (RPM-based). I generally recommend using a second speed sensor for traction control.

Thanks for the clarification Dimitris! Traction control as a pure software function of rpm is all I expected. It's certainly better than nothing.

Lets stir up the pot a bit... new version for the 01-05 and MSM:

https://www.miataturbo.net/attachmen...1&d=1363885855

Feature set is the same, knock/RTC are now standard. $849 plus shipping.

99-00 and more to follow.

Zaphod 03-21-2013 01:22 PM

Yummy. Nice, will the Enhanced Units use the same design?

Reverant 03-21-2013 01:26 PM

Correct. Same basic architecture, footprint and enclosure. There's a DB37 on the back for additional IO, a serial port and the MAP sensor.

Oscar 03-21-2013 01:29 PM

So when can I expect mine?

EO2K 03-21-2013 01:41 PM

USB is WINNING!

Why DB37? Convenience?

37 pins to input/output greatness

18psi 03-21-2013 02:42 PM

I think the new slimmer case with pnp plug right on the side of it is pretty winning.

Now to fit these into OEM cases for ultra-winning

DB37 is for non-standard inputs and outputs. Launch control, switchable tables, wideband in, CAN bus, etc.

Why a DB style and not a circular? It all comes down to cost and time. Any circular connector that is made for a PCB costs $$$. Like $120 for the PCB connector (header) and then ~$50 for the plug itself. Too much money for the Basic MS3, maybe ok for the Enhanced. I could use a standard circular flange-style receptacle and then wire each and every wire from the receptacle to the PCB...not. ;)

Gt2560rMiata 03-22-2013 12:14 AM

Oh god, ordering my MS3basic soon. Hope I can get one with the Ecu connector built in just like in the picture. Damn I cant wait

Again, you will NOT pass state OBD-II inspection with this feature. This is not what it is designed for.

This I like. Whether it's my minivan or pickup truck I run a OBD2 reader on the dash for IA temp, coolant temp, fuel mileage, RPM, checking codes etc. I'd love to have it back in the Miata.

Whats the eta on a model with this ODB2 reading included, and estimate on price?

Reverant 03-23-2013 04:08 AM

ETA for OBD-II is unknown.

Nagase 03-23-2013 08:43 AM

That's a very nice looking case. Still waiting on that enhanced, though.

blaen99 03-23-2013 12:12 PM

Lovin' the MS3 Basic I got yo.

The final case will be a different color, this is just a prototype. ;)

Zaphod 03-24-2013 09:53 AM

Hey this is Miataturbo.net - I guess it will be anodized pink... ;-)

Reverant 03-24-2013 10:58 AM

Eeer, sorry gays, close but no cigar.

Godless Commie 03-24-2013 04:27 PM

Would it void the warranty if we were to anodize the case pink ourselves?

Nagase 03-24-2013 04:34 PM

So not pink standard?

How much for the pink option?

Braineack 03-24-2013 08:45 PM

at least yellow and pink

If you ever did that, I don't want to know you anymore. :giggle:

You obviously have not done your market research of what the miata community wants. Pink cases > functionality.

As long as it's pink you can build me ms1 instead of my ms3 and I wouldn't care

18psi 03-25-2013 11:14 PM

and have a hello kitty LED go off right before the rod exits the block

FowlerMotorsports 03-25-2013 11:18 PM

I am now going to paint my ms3 pink with hello kitty stickers.... for my niece of course ;)

Gt2560rMiata 03-26-2013 02:47 AM

Mines going to get a Rainbow Dash sticker

It's all about the snakes and sparklers

18psi 03-26-2013 09:03 AM

I just know someone will ACTUALLY do this sometime soon.

I can feel it

thenuge26 03-26-2013 09:47 AM

I'll paint my eventual one pink. It's going between my legs anyway.

blaen99 03-26-2013 12:45 PM

Shit, if someone provides the paint, I'll paint mine pink.

etang789 07-12-2013 05:12 AM

your PM box is full

Reverant 07-12-2013 05:25 AM

Cleared.

k24madness 09-10-2013 09:51 AM

I pulled the trigger and ordered a MS3 basic. I have a 96/97 Miata.running a 99 head. I installed a FM 32-2t crank trigger along with NB sensor.

Is there anything else that needs to be changed for me to run crank fired ignition?

vinohare 09-15-2013 10:37 PM

Rev what would I need in addition to this to let your ms3 control boost and to have it delete my afm?

Reverant 09-16-2013 12:29 PM

You need a boost control valve to control boost. What year is your car?

vinohare 09-16-2013 12:41 PM

Reverant 09-16-2013 01:03 PM

Yeah you need an IAT sensor to remove the AFM on a 90.

joyrider 10-03-2013 12:36 PM

Can you clarify wich trigger wheel option can work with MS3 Basic ?

I remember speaking to you about it but can't find the discussion and it could be good info in here too.

Reverant 10-03-2013 02:58 PM

Almost any 12-1, 36-1, 60-2 will work in batch fuel/wasted spark. If you want full sequential, you need the FM 36-2 wheel and you need to update the firmware to the latest 1.3 alpha.

I'm confused now. I'm using a supermiata damper + 36-1 wheel. The other thread you said it should be fine reassigning the CAS wiring to the trigger wheel, and using the oem 99 cam position sensor.

Does this mean I just cut off on extra tooth on the trigger wheel, if so which tooth; leading or trailing?

sixshooter 10-04-2013 09:59 AM

It says 36-1 will work in the post right above yours.

Reverant 10-04-2013 10:03 AM

...but only in batch/wasted spark.
