The serial port is always a 9-pin port.

Followed instructions and wiring recommendations from this thread. Fired up & works as intended 1st time.
Just for future reference, I powered the module via pin J of the accessory connector on a PNPPRO (.5A +12v) which makes wiring a snap since that connector also has CAN H&L. I tied the module ground into the same location as the stereo ground, and left the O2 sensor grounded to the main ground on the back of the head. |
Awesome!

Getting this error message every time I fire up a new session, but it doesn't appear to affect function at all. Did I set up something wrong?

Yes, go to vehicle project properties, CAN, select the module, make sure it's ID is set to 9.
Huh. There ya go. I had gone through this step, but it was set as 1. Thank you sir. Easy fix.
Now it isn't working. When the car is powered, the drop-down listing CAN ID 9 says: "no device detected"
So things aren't working right. I was getting AFR signal before when I was getting the error code on startup, but now that I've set CAN ID to 9 everywhere, TS says "no device connected" when I try to select CAN ID 9 (or any ID #). The TS AFR gauge is just pegged to 14.7. However, the "Send AFR test value" mode will make the TS AFR gauge move. The AEM gauge is functioning correctly.
Also, the values aren't quite lining up: When I had it working previously (with error message), I noticed that the AFR displayed on the AEM gauge was about .1AFR higher than what was displayed on the TS AFR gauge. And now when I use the send AFR test value, every value is low on the TS gauge by exactly .1AFR except for 14.7. At 14.7, they totally agree, and then it goes back to being low by exactly .1AFR. Sorry, for whatever reason, my screen shots are mega blurry. https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...1b7571a070.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...6407579040.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...d9720f82fc.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...787b54ffb3.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mia...2c0f541a0d.png |
Did you only change the ID in the vehicle project tab?
Yes. It was already set to 9 everywhere else.
If your wideband is connected through the serial port (blue wire) to the module, then you need to select the plain "AEM UEGO" model, even if your wideband is the X-series 30-0300. The "30-0300" mode is only if you have connected the wideband to the module through CAN, and not serial.
Cool. I'll try it out when I get home.
Working! Thanks for your patience.

Does anyone have a copy of the v1.0.1 firmware for the can bus adapter that they can email me? The link in the original instructions is dead and I need to get this file for the new owner of my car.
Are these still available for purchase? I have not heard back from my DM to Reverant or email to Trackspeed. I understand that Trackspeed at least may be phasing out of the Miata industry but I'm not giving my hopes up. I'm holding off on going to the Link sys CAN-Lambda, because of it's high price and no display, until I hear back about the availability of this CAN module.
Unfortunately, it's no longer available.

Buying a wideband which reports values over CAN natively is a much more clean option in my opinion. I like these guys as they're more oriented towards industry and if you get the Board version it is quite compact (just get a CAN gauge if you want to read wideband/more in the car, you get a lot more functionality that way in any case). The option I recently purchased is the display-less ALM Board CAN with LSU-ADV (better than the old LSU 4.9s). It's relatively cost competitive with the AEM X-series. https://www.ecotrons.com/accurate_la...r/alm-lsu-adv/

@Saber008 I have a used CAN module from MSLabs ( Reverant). PM me if interested.

Does anyone on this remember if they had more instructions other than in this picture shown? Basically I've been reading various threads about this module and it seems some people needed some type of ini file or update for the module in order to have it work. I'm trying to determine if I'll be able to connect this to my mspnp2 and if I will need any other files for the install. The TSE website does not work and any link I click on regarding this module and TSE is broken. According to reverant it should work with my mspnp2 but it also looks as though if I need any additional files that I won't have access to them.
