Default MSPNP Gen 2 COPS

Hi guys,

This isn't so much a problem as a general enquiry. I swapped out my MSPNP Gen 1 with a Gen 2 version tonight.

I set my req_fuel for the ID1000's then set about looking for the dwell settings to configure to allow the Toyota COPS to work and couldn't find them. I thought I'd try and start the car anyway and to my surprise it fired up straight away. I also haven't configured anything to say I'm running MAFless.

My question is: Did the ECU automagically detect my COPS and MAFless set up and make adjustments so it runs? I was expecting a bit more hassle and get nervous when things work too easily! Why did it just work????!

The difference between MAF/MAFless and OEM/COPS ignition is so small that will run anyway. No, the ECU does not possess that magic ability.
