Safe PSI?

Safe PSI?
OK, well, I finally got my upgrades installed on the 1.6T.
JR Injector Controller
255 Walbro
MSD Boost Controller (why they call it that, when it controlls timing?)
All from the JRSC Big Boost Upgrade (8psi).
MBC, LC-1 Wideband, Defi A/F guage, and Defi Boost Guage.
I have base timing set 8BTDC.
Non-IC.
I have been running the stock 5.5psi, confirmed by the boost guage, and was gonna raise it to 8psi.
Should I leave the timing at 8 or maybe move it up to 10 since the MSD pulls 6 degrees at 6psi?
Parts in route or awaiting install:
FM GFB BOV (here)
02 Clamp (Thanks oldguy) (in mail)
Magnecore 8.5 wires (in mail)
FM NGK Turbo Plugs (here)
FM Turbo PCV (here)
Turbo Tony 2.5" DP (here)
I will probably put the rest of these goodies on next weekend, except for the BOV, unless I find a way to use it with the stock crossover.
Ideas and suggestions are appreciated.
Oh, and the "stock" Greddy power was:
111whp/110tq

As a buddy of mine said when I asked him to do it.
"You want me to do a leakdown and compression test? Are you gonna repair or replace the motor if it's low, or not put the kit on? If not, then just put the damn thing on, and if the motor goes, you have an excuse to build one."
So, no, I didn't. And the numbers are right where they should be except for the few that post their dynos here, which are pretty damn high.
I was making 99whp/88tq NA, so I would have to say the motor was running strong and didn't have any issues before the turbo. If you consider the drop from 12BTDC to 8BTDC, whereas the norm for 1 degree of retard is 6-7whp, and I pulled 4 degrees, puts it at 75whp. The other standard norm is 6psi = 40% increase in power, then what's 40% of 75? So that gives us 105whp @6psi. I am running 5.5psi, and making 110whp. Again, like I said, it's well within the given norms for timing and psi I am running.

It seems like you pretty much know what you are doing, although I don't understand your math for HP calcs.
I really wouldn't push it without an intercooler past 6-7psi. just think of all the heat delta and how much timing you need to pull and fuel you need to dump to battle ping.
yes, since you are going with a MSD I'd set the timing so it pulls back to at least 6* of timing. If you aren't pinging, I'd try bumping it up in 1* increments to see where you do start pinging. then settle for a spot that you wont ping.
6psi on a greddy kit with your mods is going to be closer to the 150hp/130tq range.

I got those numbers from several different sources when asking them about pulling timing for running nitrous on my other car. Both from the import and domestic sides. It varies from engine to engine, but that was the "safe guestimate" that all but one went with, with that one being "10-15whp per degree".

Well, the motor NA made good power running 12BTDC at 99whp, and it shows 5.5psi on the boost gauge, so I can only assume the motor didn't take a big dump the week after I put the turbo on it, causing the low numbers on the dyno. I was actually runig 3BTDC for 3 days before figuring out we mis-read the marks for the timing. The low numbers were a shock to me as well, but the Mustang GTs that have felt the embarrassment of getting passed by a Miata has made up for it.
