You posted this on the 20th of November... it is now Dec 3rd.

Who told you this? I have not received it yet, nor any indication that it has been shipped. Does an unnamed person lie to you like that person lies to customers about items being "made and on the way shortly"? If this person is pissed at me for airing dirty laundry this is understandable... but I suspect it is just another dropped ball, not a deliberate snub.

Customer service seems to be the one big complaint about BEGI and what the root of the problem is exactly I cannot say but I hope it is resolved because that is one aspect that I believe FM holds over them easily.

The problem has a name. Due to the nature of the problem, it will never be resolved. Never hire relatives unless they are ambitious themselves and want the business to grow. You can make the best product in the world and if you have someone who flat out lies about production / delivery times you will develop a bad reputation. They drag the company name, and the owners name through the mud... not their own name.

My kit despite fitment issues, boost control issues, and missing parts makes great power. I would pursue resolution to the poor fitment issues and the poor wastegate to downpipe design with Corky if I didn't think it would take months and months of struggle to get it fixed by his company. Modifying the downpipe by cutting it right after the bend and adding a V-band connection at that cut so the turbine outlet section can rotate in relation to the rest of the downpipe will resolve my miss-alignment issues and cure the exhaust leaks. As usual, I will pay out of pocket to resolve problems locally rather than trying to get results from BEGi. My oil feed was too short and oil return was too long, I paid a local company to make an extension for the oil supply, and make a new oil return rather than wait god knows how long to get replacements from BEGi. I will pay out of pocket locally once again to have the downpipe fixed less than a week after I remove it from the car. This would take about 6 months if I removed it and sent it to BEGi... and it would not be what I requested when it arrived back at my house. I am unsure if the trouble of extending the wastegate tube to join to the downpipe near the midpipe rather than at the turbine outlet is worth the effort, or if I will just make it into an atmospheric dump tube since the Miata is no longer my daily driver.

I ordered a cat tree that was on backorder. I posted in the cat and kitties thread but petco still hasn't updated me on the status.

Sorry, that S6 was my dumb collection of parts. It has been canned.

A/O '01, the one making ~230whp/210tq

Mine is/was one of 4 r/d cars for the project

Prototype, still needs some tweaking which BEGI will address, normal issues with any proto car....

Stock injectors, reflashed ecu, Enthuza exhaust, ACT clutch, mishimoto radiator

Quick as hell, boosts comes on very smoothly, ~8-8.5 psi

230whp on stock injectors? And which ECU was reflashed? Not the stock one.

Magic?

Dunno, but Australian company 'Chip Torque' is VERY instrumental in the process.

There were a few more tweaks after this dyno plot and I never got the last one before delivery, but here it is.

Dyno looks great, but for real, stock injectors?

I'm guessing higher fuel pressure. Scott, any info?

And an honest 12:1 AFR, instead of 12.5:1

No, they're claiming stock fuel pressure, and NB fuel system at that. So... for ever pound of boost, you lose one pound of fuel pressure.

Does this mean he gets a heat shield that fits or not?

But he's hitting 230 at like 8.5psi rather than like 10-12 so that does help.

I'd be interested to see what the car does on the dyno i use.

But yes. It's not much boost. It's still 8.5psi less fuel pressure than stock.

JasonC SBB 12-04-2014 12:37 PM

Which turbo and a/r is this dyno?

and longer fuel trims than stock to supply more fuel per psi...

it obviously works, fuel plot looks fine. if that was taken after a cat I'd be after.

Which brings me to this request: Ben, please shoot me a picture of where you are pulling your reference for the FPR on the NB1 manifold.
