Default End of my Begi S3 saga with Ken Hill Mods and Tuning (dyno)

Guys

As mentioned before I have had a trying time with the S3 from Begi which involved lots of problems. We can discuss that later.

The car is currently in the hands of Ken Hill (Flying Miata fame) at Oracle Tuning near Reading PA.
For those of you who don't know, Ken is an electrical engineer and Miata enthuziast who spent 5 years at FM as electronics/tuning specialist.
He is also a really nice guy. When I brought him the car I spent over an hour talking and looking at his car. Very nice visit.
I also had the pleasure of taking him for a speed run in my buddy's 03 SVT Cobra running 19psi. He liked it.

BegiS3 turbo upgrade:
Begi intake, GT2560, Begi IC, Begi separated gasses DP, Stock MSM exhaust, 450 cc Bosch injectors, Xede ECU.
Dyno tuned by Ken Hill
271.6 RWHP 244.5 ft-lbs torque @ 12psi
In Dash boost gauge with red LED illumination to the dash.
FM Big brake kit.
949 6UL with Toyo Proxy R1R 225/45-15
FM Stage II Suspension with FM springs, FM sway bars and Tokico adjustable shocks.
3.63 ring and pinion.

I just realized you still have a stock MAF and IAT sensor...then I saw Xede. Wow, those are great numbers!

I live in Yardley Bucks Co.

Yeah, my numbers are scary. I seem to need a stoker kit with hardened rods etc before even racing it

The boost gauge is so cool.
He put in an led idiot light to replace the idiot light shaped like a gauge. Thanks Mazda.

I guess I had better think twice about leaving it at 12psi.
The lower curve was at 10psi by the way.

I am just shocked to see that much power on 12 psi on just a 2560. That is sooo impressive. Stock msm exhaust? What is diameter? Anyother trick aside from xede and 2560??

Yeah, isn't it cool?

All mods were listed in my post.
Expanation: Ken Hill is a genius.

I have the DP but stock catback. BTW with just the DP it has a very very nice growl. No drone or buzz.

Unless the injectors are serioisly underrated, they are too small for that much HP.

They're 450's Min...supposedly rx8 425's are good for 260-280 at 60lbs fuel pressure...
What is the most anybody ever dyno'd with rx7 460's?

I know the fuel pressure thing seems iffy, then again so does that much hp on 12lbs with a gt2560 pulling through a MAF...
I'm not calling BS, but something just really seems odd...
Perhaps MSM head/ cams are that much better at making power than older 1.8's?

Assuming a BSFC of .65 and 270HP, the estimated fuel demand comes out to around 43-44 lb/hr of fuel per injector which is roughly 450cc/min. They are most definitely maxxed out at that power, but workable. If we got a log of the duty cycle we could know for sure.

Of course if it overboosted, the ECU will not be able to compensate with more fuel and it will go lean quick.

Awesome numbers.

Nice. Very nice.

You can pull the xede tables yourself. Install xmap off the Begi cd (or grab it from Chiptorque), connect to the serial port, and turn the key on. Download maps. Show all maps. Screenshot for win. We want to see the MAF and the Timing table. And the TPS table if it's used, this is an MSM right?

Yeah 270hp at the crank.

Crank.

Look OP, I am not being a hater. Your car is obviously fast and probably drives fantastically. I am just talking about the numbers, not the tuning job or your setup.
