6x10 tables are really, really awful - even the 12x12 MS1 tables are not particularly well regarded. MS2 is 16x16, AEM is 17x21, and those sizes are just about perfect. The old 24x24 Hydra tables are too big, and the new 32x32 tables are annoyingly large. The fact that you can't adjust the breakpoints on the 6x10 table makes the problem infinitely worse - if the 6 load breakpoints aren't in the right spot, it's just not possible to tune the car the way you might want to tune it.
Wasn't an issue on a moderately boosted 1.6 (5-14psi) I worked on, I but as I said, if your setup is more extreme then you're unlikely to be using tech like MS1/FM-LINK anyway.

FWIW I've seen some pretty extreme setups posted on msExtra using 12x12 tables. I personally find 16x16 on the MX5 a bit on the large side.

I think there are significantly more users here with non-factory coils than you think there are. Non-adjustable dwell means that you are basically locked into stock coils, which means you can't use high boost without running very narrow plug gaps, which turns the idle to ----.
As awesome as miataturbo.net is, it doesn't have the complete coverage of every single turbo MX5 I'd hazard that the vast majority of boosted MX5's/miata's will be running the stock ignition system.

As I say it's not an amazing platform, and it's definitely aged, but it's still perfectly useable/servicable.

I have limited experience with all of the different systems. The one thing that strikes me is that the Link, once tuned, never gets touched again and is very reliable.

Nobody with a Link has spent an hour and a half tuning his idle in my driveway in the middle of the night

Heh. I touch my Link all the time. Just last night it decided it needed less hot start fuel all of a sudden. (awesome sitting outside a burger place while the starter went crank crank crank crank crank...)

I love my Link for two reasons: I have it and I am familiar with it. Those are the two advantages my Link has over all other ECUs. I'll never stand on a soapbox and proclaim that it's superior to anything. Well... maybe a powercard. But when my Link finally blows up or shorts out, I'll not go to the end of the earth to find a new one. I'll be ordering what's new, good, popular and supported. Right now that's the MS.

BTW, that's a gorgeous boost gauge install, OP.

I agree 100% I've had much better luck on msExtra and the 12x12 tables are no issue for a few of the cars I've done with MS2. MS1, well that's another story.
