Default How did it keep running?

Anyone care to tell me how this thing kept running? I drove home with it like this, about 3 miles. I went around a corner and hit the gas. I heard it pop off and thought the blow off valve had broken due to the whistling that was coming from the engine. It was still running so I didn't figure a hose had come off and kept driving until I was home. It would not idle but as long as you kept the revs above 1500 it would run. When I opened the hood this is what I found. I heard the clamp fall out about a mile from the house.

lol, the funny thing is i was trying to tune the other day and i had two intercooler popping episodes, everytime i hear a pop and a damp metallic whack i pull over and sure enough intercooler piping. sometimes the pipe is kind of aiming in the right direction and will supply enough air and sometimes its just totally pointing the wrong way.

it would run the same way your stock car would run....

probably:
-the turbo was pulling enough air through the AFM to keep it happy (enough to run)
-the motor was still sucking air into the intake
-the turbo was blowing air all over your engine compartment.

why is it bad?

no filter
no control over air / fuel
