average driven sti traps at least 102-103 on AVERAGE, the best stg2 2.0L wrx driven GOOD traps anywhere from 98-101 the average being 99.....thats 4 miles difference. i had a 05 2.0L stg 2 wrx and took it to the track many times, beleive me i know. (as well as have many many friends with them. check this site: www.sacforcefed.com) and now have my current ride, and the difference between a 2.0L wrx and a 2.5 is ridiculous........
I saw him pull 1/2 car on an STi from a 40 punch. I was behind them. He also did the same thing to an Evo8 w/ intake the same night. That was the night he beat me by 2 cars.

That is him racing a modified STi. I sent him a PM asking him what was done to the STi, and I'll post it up here when I get it.

Stock for stock, I would hope a 2.5l Turbo AWD car can beat a 1.6l NA. Get the Miata within 50whp of the STi and the only thing the STi will win is a race from a dig, even then it might get beat in the 1/4mi with a good driver in the Miata.

hit me up if your interested in a tune for your subaru or evo, got a guy that does it good and at a good price.
That is also in his sig, so maybe he has a Pro-tune.

With all your talk about sti's and wrx's since you joined....you make me want to stab myself in the ears with q-tips everytime I read one of your posts.....****.

Great you love sti's and wrx's, until you have a miata, go ******* get your hard on about them on the suby forums.

Granted sti's and wrx's are fast to begin with and can be made faster.....ok. But plain and simple...its not as respectful as starting with a 100whp car and making it do the same thing for alot cheaper. When any teenage kid can walk into the dealer and walk out with something just as good as what you have, and look just like you and the other 10 million people that sweat sti's.....sorry.

Plus you guys have roofs.....so you every which way, you fail.

bro, im not doubting what you say for a second....i completely beleive you....however, in my 05 wrx stg2 i have had MANY experiences and at best i was able to hang with an sti, the average being them slowly pulling away bit by bit........what i am telling you that MOST, 99% of 2.0L's out there cannot beat sti's, with EQUAL DRIVERS!!!! <- that there is the biggest factor. if sti driver sux and evo driver sux the wrx will pull them both....

lemme put it this way......we all know how big a difference the driver mod is right? well i didnt even begin to understand till i took my current setup to the track......my first run: 14.0@103....pathetic....my 3rd run: 13.2@105......still sux.....then next time to the track...first run 13.2@108.......second run: 12.7@109......now i got launch control cause i suck at launching it (its not as easy as it sounds) and wot shifting integrated in my tune: 11.8@114
noone would even beleive how drastic my times changed with experience, good thing i had like 10 friends there watching and one recording lol.......

so anyways, with a bad driver the sti would lose, with equal drivers the stg2 wrx will never win

And the STi's are starting to show a bad tendency, breaking oil pick-ups. Nothing like locking up a motor cause of no oil. Had a guy bring in one that had died at a local road course for us to diagnosis it. We tore the motor apart and found the problem...the oil pickup had snapped off in the oil pan. Contacted people in Subaru USA and they offer to cover it under warranty if we will send it in to be inspected by their "Super Techs" from corporate. Seems it has happened to a few of them and they consider it a problem, and want to see how they can fix it.

lol.....not at all. Yes talk is great! Different cars and different setups, the whole nine yards. But when everything out of your mouth is about how amazing a wrx or a sti is.....it gets old. Everyone here knows about them and has seen them before....not really impressing anyone. WTF did you expect?

It goes both ways, some sti's will smoke miata's and some miata's will smoke sti's. Driver having downsyndrome or being a genius....whatever details you want. But ****......is that alllll you got to talk about? Sure seems like it.

The guy driving the WRX is only 18, and not exactly a pro driver. I have followed a STi on the freeway, 65-70mph to 110 and he couldn't pull me AT ALL. That was with the same mods as when I raced the WRX. Sadly, I only got to race once with it @ 8psi and Begi AFPR "tuned". I pulled about 1 1/2 cars on an Evo8 w/ Exhaust and intake. Then blew up the diff going home. Car has been down since.

I cant speak for everybody....that's just me voicing my opinion. Do yourself a favor and get in a miata ASAP and never look back.

With my official "lets move on"......

"Welcome to miataturbo.net, would you like any help with miata's today?"

The brazing on the pickups suposedly got too hot and they are brittle, the engine vibration then cracks them. At least what we've been told

Yeah there is a huge thread on NASIOC and it seems the brazed part of the pickup is the culprit. While a shitty probelm I believe the % of owners affected is pretty damn small. Of course it sucks if you find yourself in that percentage. I would recommend an oil pressure gauge so you can tell immediatly when there is an issue. It won't stop the tube from breaking, but it will help by giving you enough warning to shut it down and not toast anything.

Moroso has an aftermarket pan and tube for those serious about preventing the issue.

Let us know what the SOA rep says.

Well assuming traction is equal it will come down to power-to-weight. The miata has significant weight advantage so you get the Miata anywhere close in power to the STi and it will be the miata esp. on the higyway from a roll.

That video that Vash posted is actually my miata. 1.6L stock internals. That was a real Sti that i was racing. That video is an old one though. At the time i was pushing about 280 to the wheel. I have now upgraded my turbo and now trying to reach for low 11s or maybe high 10s in a 1/4mile. I will post more videos soon with the new upgrades.
