The catch can project is once again on hold, sorry guys. The promising one we got for testing is just way too big to fit anywhere under the hood on an ABS car.

I need to get our FM2R car back on the dyno for more boost now that it's wearing the LS3 coil conversion. We were actually just talking about what turbo sizes might be the best options to stock for this kit...

Poop, I want the can too. If the kit was out I'd be happier, cause then I'd get a new turbo instead of rebuilding mine. I'll take one of the non abs prototypes tho.

The FM2R kits are now in stock, we just don't have them in the system yet. Anyone interested just give me a call.

Did you ever do some runs with the LS coils on the car? Or throw on a bigger turbo?

Not yet, runs w/ the LS coils are still in queue. No plans for a bigger turbo on our car. *possibly* try a 2871, I think that may be the best overall setup for the ARs in this kit- we'll see.

Hey guys, just got off the dyno- first time we've had the car on since receiving the LS3 coil conversion. In the interim we've also installed our production "married" DP. Lastly we did upgrade the Hydra to 2.7, but that shouldn't affect power at all. No other changes.

The good news is that the coils (I'm assuming) did pick up a good amount of torque. The bad news is that it's now making so much torque that our Rototest dyno is tapped out! I've tickled the torque overload ceiling in a couple of the LS376/480 cars, but this is the first time we've hit it solidly. Any runs from 220 kPa or higher shut it down.

The last clean run I got (run 36) was at 210 kPa. So, here's that run compared to the 210 kPa run from earlier in the year w/ the stock coils (run 21). No other changes to the mapping. I've done the corrected version since it's much hotter here now than it was in Febuary, so let's say these are equal to 19 PSIg.

Looking at the logs we're around 14.5 mS on-time here so there's not a whole lot left in this fuel system.. Could bump the pressure up from 55 PSI to get a little more, but we'll also have to find another dyno to tap it out on. I think the car exactly like it is but with the GT2871R option in the FM2R kit would be a really, really great combination. I think anyone looking at the GT3071R option & for sure the GT3076R option for use with E85 fuel should spring for the ID2000cc units. They're costly, but they work & idle great.

Here's the chart where we tapped it out. Run 22 is the best run from this winter (same as earlier in the thread) at 20.5 PSIg. Run 38 is today at 21 PSIg. Both corrected as I said due to it being 100 degrees out today. You can see where run 38 was going when the dyno freaked out...

And finally, here's the video Keith shot of me doing run 36.

Y'all better be careful about that Velcro on that data cable, it looked like it was about to be sucked into a black hole.

400lb/ft? Incredibly impressive for a Miata, although I can't say I'm not hugely disappointed in your dyno. Doesn't seem like much for something I assumed you paid a lot for.

The dyno can only handle 400lb/ft? Time for a dynojet.
Amazing numbers, it boggles my mind how much power is being made with that cast manifold.
Aside from the dynos abilities i see no reason not to try out some of precisions larger turbos, 6057 and the 6262 would be amazing.

Hey Fooger, the kits are basically ready to go. We have "married" and "divorced" downpipes on the shelf. We're working on an intake elbow for cars w/ power steering, and we're working an a heatshield for the turbine that fits w/ the wastegate. Other than that we're good to go. I'll still have to get a 3" filter for anyone who chooses the GT2860RS option, but I'd probably try to talk you into the 2871 anyway. I've already sold one kit to an early adopter who's helping us out with install notes, etc.. He says the car starts better w/ the ID1000s than it did with the RC550s!

Yeah, the dyno thing is kind of a bummer- we'll have to call the manufacturer & see if there's anything to be done. I've seen ~430 ft-lbs on a couple of the LS3 conversions, but their torque is super flat compared to the turbo. As you can see this thing hits real hard.

We can fit a GT3076R to this kit as well for even more power, other than the extra frame rail work it'll bolt right in.

Why didn't you guys get a Mustang, Dynapack, or Dynodynamics?

No thanks, unless they try one of the new eddy-brake Dynojets that no one likes.

The cheapest dynapack maxes out around the same as the 400 ft-lbs of FM's dyno. (well, the rating is 1500 ft-lbs, but that's after the rear end multiplication, so divide by 3.9-4.3).

Can you squeeze a bit more out of it by dynoing the car in 5th instead of 4th?

why dont you like dynojet? I worked at a shop where we had a dynojet and it seemed to work really good, extreamly reliable. I have also known a few people who had awd dynojets and they were pleased as well.
I have heard people say dynojets dont put proper load on the vehicle but idk.
