there's a weighted ring around the edge of the flywheel. if it's getting trued, might as well shave that ring off....

Not only is doing that cheaper, you also won't have the noisy chattery transmission gears that come along with an aluminum flywheel.

There is a ring of metal on the stock flywheel that they usually shave off to accomplish this.

If I were to start all over, I would have just lightened my stock flywheel.

I have a flywheel like that. It's about 3.5 - 4 lbs. lighter than stock. I didn't even bother installing it. The ring was cut off the back by a machinist friend.

If it's a 1.6 flywheel and newly resurfaced, sell it to me for less than the price of a flywheel grind and I'll take it

It's a 1.8. It's yours for free... if you come pick it up. According to google earth it's only 2605 miles round trip. I can't remember if it was resurfaced.

Too bad I got a good price on a 1.6 clutch or I'd totally drive there!
