ok, heres the deal, i was away for about 4months and just got back. fired up the car and it ran very very rough. after i let it idle for a bit, i rev the engine up to about 3k and let off on the gas. it came down and engine died! so i cleaned off the MAF sensor and adjusted the throttle screw. i also change the oil, cleaned off the throttle body, with carborator cleaner, and checked my plugs. the car runs ok now, but idles jumps from 1100-1200 rpm back and forth after driven only. it stays at 900 when you 1st start up the car. also, the injector(1.8) are loud even after a bottle of techron injector cleaner with half a tank of gas. car runs and seems to be ok, but just seems strange to me.

You sure it is an injector you are hearing and not a stuck lifter? When you started the car did you remove the fuel injection relay and crank the engine until the oil pressure came up?

When I started my car this spring the lifters made a bunch of (extra) noise, took until the engine was fully warm before they got quiet again.

 

it is the injectors. i put my ear right next to them and they all were ticking like mad. its not the lifters. i did quiet down as time goes by. i think that crappy gas and weather + 4months had something to do with it. anywho, dont know about the rpm jump still. goes up from 1100 to 1300 then back to 1100. weird!
