Mazda has been running around the country with the MX5 Experiance. Letting people autocross them, look into that.

For the wandering steering, my Honda Fit was like that. And 8 hour drive would leave me drained from having to baby sit it the whole time. Dialing in as much caster as I could find helped a ton. (As much as one can find on a FWD McPhearson strut econobox...)

The static compression ratio looks high, yes. Had you read the thread or done any reading on the SkyActiv platform in general, you'd also understand these are atkinson cycle engines. As such, despite a high static compression (pure math: volume of chamber at BDC divide by volume of air at TDC) isn't the same as dynamic compression.

In the original atkinson cycle engine, there was weird variable physical geometry that allowed the compression stroke to be shorter than the power stroke. That was mechanically complex, so modern implementation of Atkinson cycle involves gratuitous valve overlap to "de-pressure" the compression stroke.

The effective result is a far lower REAL compression ratio than the pure numbers indicate. For turbocharged application, you should hit Wikipedia and search "Miller cycle."

There has been no problem running FI on the 12.5:1 FA20 engine in the BRZ.

The Mazda is only 13:1 IIRC.

I'm going to encourage you to read moar before reviving another old thread with a silly comment.
