The 6 points you spend on "other crap" will not make the car faster than the ~7whp of extra power (or ~130lbs less weight if you can't add 7whp easily) you will gain by reclassing PTE*.

IMO, the fastest dyno reclass setup is the same points structure as what I ran Rover as in 2013:

PTE* base +7
1000/500 +3
shocks +2
4.778 OSG +3
205 R7 +3

I have a "0pt" engine in my NA from seasons' past.

I have a new heavier/higher power reclass in my email inbox if I dont find time to do the motor/clutch swap before Gingerman.

Finished up with a fun weekend at CMP with NASA-SE. We had 8 ppl in TTE, so a good turn out for the region and especially for CMP(surface sucks, scares ppl away)

Potentially good news, I suppose, I did some compliance dyno runs with my car(i/h/e/no ecu). Three pulls, 125/127/130, which seems about right for my mods and an unopened BP4W. My car dyno'd at 134rwhp on a dynapack about 4 years ago, though I have replaced the engine since that.

I really wish I had an extra 10-15hp so I could get closer to my 146hp cap.

Need to reconfigure for ECU and E85. Probably 15HP between the two of those right there.

I'm strongly considering a MS3 before the season is done. Already have 1000/400 and stock sways ready to go. Though, I haven't done much research into running E85.

Do you really think I could gain 10hp from a stand alone and E85 on my unopened BP4W? FWIW, my stock ecu has a DPtune reflash..... which I think just advances the timing a bit and raises the limiter lol.

Also, on the negative side of the weekend..... I got on the scales in the same configuration I ran at Roebling @ 2435lbs, maybe a gallon or two less(right under half a tank vs right at half a tank) CMP scales read.... 2397, 13lbs under ugh. I add 4 gallons to the car (24lbs) go out next session, three hot-laps and thankfully run a faster time. Roll onto the scales anddddd 2407 WTTFFFFFFFF. Good enough to make weight, but damn that's frustrating. Later in the weekend I hear that there might of been sand getting under the scales and not allowing them to compress 100%. *shrug*

Good weekend at Mazda Raceway. Fastest in every session, two poles, two wins. I didn't have time to take the Sport brakes off from the previous owner. Ran PTD max points build on 205 Toyo RRs at 2252lbs. I have two things to reconfigure on the car to get the wing back on for Sonoma in June. Not sure if the weather will be good enough to crack Powells record. Almost had it at with a 41.5 in Sunday qual. Second flyer had a 41.1 by the corkscrew before cutting to much of the drain and messing that lap up still ended up with a 41.9 close but no cigar. :/

The wing would have helped big time or a little more front spring and little less rear. Ended up on 1000/500s started with 1000/550s. Not a fan of stock ARBs at all but it is what it is.

You will get used to it. They require a lot more precision than what you are used to with the SM. You can't make mid-corner corrections, you really have to get it right on turn-in and go from there. Once you grow accustomed to it, it becomes a little easier to drive, but 800/500 with sways is definitely a much more forgiving car.

+1 to everything, in specific detail. In short, no more driving sloppy with 1000/400 and stock bars.

On my unopened NA8 I gained 7WHP everywhere above 4000 when I went to an Adaptronic and got it tuned. That was while on 91 pump. Then going to E85 and tuning for that yielded another 8WHP pretty much everywhere. Those two mods are the biggest bumps in horsepower for a single modification I did other than my intake (that was +9 I think. It's in the build thread.) Bone stock with only test pipe was 99WHP and I'm at 133WHP now with all the bolt ons and Exhintake cam. I pretty much can't get much higher without opening the motor now.

1000/400 would be no problem. It wasn't bad slow speed only had a issue on the downhill from 9 to 10. I ended up pretty happy with the setup just knew it could be faster with the wing.

After many years of slacking *** finally got on track today to knock off some rust and see what my car needs most, besides a good driver with a competition license. Currently, would only be using 7pts unless I can't use the TT calculator for dummies correctly (Header back exhaust +5 - Koni/GC and RB front sway +7 - 205 ZII -5). Obvious upgrades are big kid suspension, torsen, and better tires. Still a street car for now, so going to avoid the stock sways with 1000lbs springs and go for something a bit more friendly/fun until I can make/buy a dedicated rasskar. Will just contribute towards Robert getting contingency money. Thinking of using remaining points as follows.

Option 1
Toyo RR +0 (+5 from ZII)
ECU +3
Intake +1
4.3 Torsen +3

Option 2 - Only perk is it avoids having to swap ECU's for OBD-II testing, but guessing this one would be inferior in most cases.
Toyo RR +0 (+5 from ZII)
4.3 Torsen +3
BBFW Spoiler +4

Here's a 1:38.7 from today on Harris Hill Road. Was still playing with gears on some corners, actually scrubbed a few tenths on Turn 5 by going down to 2nd. There was also some water draining across the track in a few sections (braking into T2-3 and obviously turn 8). Looks like a bitchin' fast lap for a miata is cracking sub-1:30, so things could be worse, but definitely need to get more seat time, do what I can to get lighter, and enact some of the plans above.

EDIT: Lap starts at ~5 minutes since 'Start at...' doesn't work for embedding.

EDIT2: Day 2 CCW. Decided to man up and actually do some wheelin', still slow, but better.

Default Quick classing question

I'm trying to figure out how best to class my car, currently mildly prepped for CSP, for NASA TT. Do aftermarket tophats count as changing the shock mounting location and therefore use up a point?

Nope.

From the 0 points section.

4) Shock mount replacement/modification (only if already taking points for both shocks and springs)(may raise or lower mount location up to two (2) inches if no horizontal movement.)

Ah, thanks! Not sure how I missed that... After a dyno reclass (because VVT swap) putting me at TTE* that leaves me enough points to run 205 R7s and only have to ditch my CSP spoiler and splitter.

4 SCCA Spec Miatas broke the track record today at Mid Ohio. Two at 1:41.2xx, two at 1:41.4xx. All four faster than me, but a couple behind Kopitski's new E record.

With SM7s, floor drops and more front camber, SCCA SMs are getting faster!!

Floor drops are not on top cars. Nothing is new with camber, top cars always had what they wanted. SCCA hasn't ran the Pro-Course since Hoosier has come around, always ran the Club Course which is a easy 1-1.5 seconds.

I bet mid to high 40s tomorrow for q2 in the morning.

The Kopitski car is for sale. No idea what they are asking for it. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1163...19242071436696
https://www.facebook.com/groups/1163821863645385/

If you have questions about it, track down the seller (not me)

This car was built from bare tub that I prepped but never built. We dipped, seam welded, TC caged it. I had TC build a box where the OEM tank goes. New tank is in the pax floor. We sold the bare tub to Kopitski and he had TC build the complete car in 2015. I could be wrong but I do believe this is far and away the fastest and best built PTE Miata in the country. All the goodies. It will be legal until a fast driver gets in it and destroys the lap record at Mid-O or Buttonwillow this year. It is pretty much what I would build if I were racing PTE again.

I spoke with Dave and the price is right. I hope he keeps it through the Champs.

Back from Road Atlanta, great time in TTE! 9 cars both days and I managed to win both days. Managed a new PR of 1:44.240 on Sunday morning, fresh tires are awesome, but man what I'd give to have a car like the orange one Dave has(Bubbles). I'm sitting at 130rwhp currently, so I'm fairly confident I could push the record back with another 10-15hp.
