He just admitted on the forum that he was not running the restrictor he should so no harm, no foul. I was about to get really upset with the idea of needed to run a time like that, lol.
And don't bother asking how it's built. I can tell you that it is a Miata and that's about it

The D car we're building now should be about 1s slower than Crusher was at the end of last year. Crusher is faster now. So figure 6s under SM records on a ~2:00 course if you want to win D at Miller.

Since Nats are NOT at Mid O, feel free to pm me that point sheet and reclass info...

I think that when I figure out aero, my green car will be incredibly well prepared for TTD and you've spilled enough beans to me that I think that's a reasonable possibility. :P
Have fun racing no one.
Also, when you guys quote Sm records, do you mean NASA SM record or any SM record?
Quick check at Road Atlanta (arbitrary track) shows SCCA SM record a full second faster than NASA SM record. (SCCA record is from '09, so it was on Toyos)

Yeah, lots of variables these days with SM. Crusher ran a 25 with a predicted 24 at Hallett, new SM record is like a 29.8 or something, we were running Nittos...the list goes on.
The way I look at it is whether or not I'm going faster than the last guy who won MX-5 Playboy Cup did, regardless of the SM record. That's what puts a smile on my face.

So sorry, no all dominating Civics in PTD at Miller. We'll be busy winning STL at the runoffs...

SCCA, meh. Good fields and contingencies in some classes but I just can't get excited about an STL 1.8L Miata:
7" wheel
2570# comp weight
stock intake manifold and throttle body
No porting
Big cams OK but no more than 11.0:1
SCCA ST rules are free enough that building a fully prepped STL costs maybe 50% more than what a competitive PT car would cost us. Have to be a 1.6L to be competitive I think.

The FR-S should get bumped out of it's current base class as soon as someone that can tune and drive runs one. Based on what I've observed, it's just as fast as an S2000. Just a matter of time.

Would Greenbaum bump it mid-season you think? Im thinking about running mine at Nats, but I'm nowhere near a skilled enough driver to come out to Miller first time and take the title.

That is unless Scion or Subaru ever decide to give me the car I asked for.

I'm guessing the other drivers in D would take affront to your quip about "racing no one".

Total Mazdaspeed contingency for STL runoffs win would certainly help offset some of that cost to build...
STL Runoffs race will likely have former SCCA SM National champ, former NASA SM national champ, at least 3 other SCCA National champs, and multiple Grand AM driver's in the field. Tell me again why the PTD field at NASA Nats should be offended?
STL field should also include a 949 car...
You're sponsoring me?
Seriously, SM has even bigger fields and I don't race that either. I just don't like the car or the cost/performance ratio needed to run at the front.

Don't get me wrong, I think the NASA PT formula is great and it should lead to great competition. It just sucks that currently the fields are so small.
After I leave the cushy world I currently live in and have to join the real world and pay/build my own race car(s) I will most likely be in PTE or PTD.
