I'm just ready to see how many nerfs the Miata gets At 17.8 peak I'm thinking I'll fall right into 17:1avg (number I've heard for TT6) after modifiers. Texas is building a solid TT/ST5 field that I'd like to move up to, but $$.

Provisional rules

https://nasa-assets.s3.amazonaws.com...1--7-31-18.pdf

Based off that my car is TT6 as it sits, but can obviously get sway bars back and drop a bit of ballast. ~2400lbs / 130whp avg - .8 (new A-Arm mod) - .4 (weight) = 17.2. Considering the PTE field here is empty there won't be an ST6 field. TTE has been healthy since I started last year, but prior to that was basically one person resetting records, so I fear I'm still gonna need to pony up and go TT/ST5.

Thanks man!

Here's my best lap, which is an exhibition in over driving. I went green and threw it away multiple times on this lap, should have had a 2:41 something, not enough to take 2nd and certainly not the win from Bubbles, but was annoying myself with trying too hard. Car felt amazing as per usual on the Xidas. Thanks to SuperMiata/Dan for suggesting the drop down to 400lbs in the rear, definitely like the way it drives.

Also, I couldn't actually hear my music, totally forgot it was even playing after leaving grid. Daily driver life! Very happy to hit my goal of podium having driven to the track with hoosiers riding shotty

Congrats to Austin for third!

Here is my video and setup from 2nd place at nats:

2004 Miata VVT
800F 700R springs
Big home made speedway front bar
Whitener Racing Shocks
OS Giken Diff w/custom tune by Jon Jugod
Maxim Works Header
MBS Spec Miata Exhaust
MS3 Pro PNP w/pump 93
3.5 front 2.5 rear camber
5 degrees caster
0 front, 1/4 in rear total toe
3.7 front 3.4 rear pinch weld heights
205 SM7 on 9s

My setup is a little different than what most people run.

I am planning on going to ST/TT6 next year.

Thanks bud! And grats on 2nd, good to see Texas region represent Can't believe how late you're braking, that's nuts. I damn near got in your way at T11, glad there was enough of a gap.

Yeah looking at your video there are definitely a few places where we are each putting time on each other.

Overall I thought Nats went a lot smoother than I expected. I want thinking with that many cars it would be tough to get clean laps but it was actually went really well. The only prep events I did at COTA were with edge addicts which has a ton of high dollar/hp cars so I could go a whole weekend and almost never get a clean lap.

How is that line at the exit of the 2nd to last corner not considered 4 off? I assume that was covered in the drivers' meeting since it looks like everybody was using it, just curious about how that was decided.

T19 had no track limits, every other corner was second white line, but there were gators between it and the first line on the outside. Inside had rip your oil pan off turtles.

Might not be able to see this if you're not hooked up with the Mid-Atlantic crew on FB, but this is 100% not hyperbole.

TLDR - Cobetto ripped open his oil pan on an inside gator.

And congrats for Kopitski for being the final PTE champion.

Can't see it, but if he's the SM who launched off a turtle in the esses, then that's what I was referencing.

SE30, not sure where he hit. I don't know COTA's layout at all.

Kopitskis’s E lap was 3.9 seconds faster than Spec Miata, for our age old reference.

I went back and referenced some other laps, turns out my best lap from Saturday was half a second faster from T11 to T12 (back straight). Meaning I completely botched it Sunday, which is obvious, you can see me sucker in early and ruin my momentum and ability to power out early. On my best lap I nailed the esses, then proceeded to get in my head and sucker into apexes early, over slow, or blow past clipping points (T15 and T20). I wasn't going to beat Kopitski regardless, but I think my full interior daily was capable of damn near a 2:40, likely very low 2:41. Just would have been nice to throw down a scorcher Either way, happy to go 1.7 seconds faster than the best lap in SM (Haldemans 2:43.9 in champ race). That's much better than I've done all season, so getting there.

Now to either cage it or sell and buy a caged miata and go get slaughtered in ST5.

Personally I think you should have tried 2nd at T11. It isn't much but every bit counts down that straight.

Also why not just go to 6. There will be people there.

Honestly, I was doing some motor preservation. My downshifts to 2nd were less than stellar and I didn't want to risk zinging the motor. As for 6, I'm sure we'll have some folks on the TT side, but I think ST will be empty. Meanwhile ST5 is building a decent following, current TTD cars will go there (couple of Miatas including my friend Jose), couple of NC's, two GT86's I know of, and so on. We'll see, I just want to race where there's numbers, which really means I need a Spec Miata

I can't even begin to fathom driving a fully caged car near the limit in athletic shorts and a t-shirt.

Good for you?

Glad I'm not the only one that found this really strange. Firesuits or at least long pants not required?

Yah. I find that a bit hard to process too. Obviously funds to get to COTA ($$$), but no funds for at least a suit.
