I'm planning to be there for the BW event. I'll be renting a seat in a Spec E46 with Legacy for the WERC endurance race Saturday night, and I'll probably bring my M3 down to run ST4 on Sunday as well.

Rad! I'm gonna be at the Long Beach Grand Prix on Saturday with my pops but am planning to head up to Buttonwillow right after. I'll shoot you a message closer to that weekend and try to come say hi (and maybe pelt you with a few questions if that's cool) on Sunday.

Sounds good. Look for a white 3-axle TPD trailer behind a silver F-250 tow rig.
So I went out to Willow Springs with NASA yesterday. I spoke to John from the email above about getting a checkout lap so I can move to HPDE 4. Dude was super receptive and showed enthusiasm. I got his blessing to move up to 4.
He told me a couple of my passes were borderline aggressive and that I needed to track out at the exits of turns 1 and 9 more (Using all of WSIR is scary mmmkay?). We shot the breeze for a little bit after.
To wrap up the thread, the director was much more pleasant in person than the email would suggest. I don’t want to give anyone on here who might be in his group the idea that he’s an *** to turbo Miata guys. I think his email was just a badly-worded attempt to stack another car into TT5. Not something I wanna do but I’m not gonna hold it against him.
I appreciate all who responded. I’m glad to know that nobody except the rules can tell me if my car is or isn’t eligible for a certain class haha.
Class your car where you want and run with it. TT4 is a great spot for a turbo or supercharged Miata, several in Florida.
One would be me. We are locally competitive in TT4 with regular podiums and good enough for 3rd at Nationals last year, but my car is still not quite optimized. We're going to experiment with lower treadwear tires and higher power to see what happens.
Keep having fun on the track and cross-pollinating between NASA and GTA is a good way to stay active.
Love to hear it, dude! Hoping I'll be in a similar situation to yours as well. My car's not quite optimized yet either (currently 20-25hp under my power limit) but there'll be plenty of time to dial that in next year. What tire and power are you running the car at? George above said the Maxxis RC1 & 246hp combo is working well for him. I think that's what I'm gonna aim to do next year.
Either way, I'll be running TT4 in Buttonwillow with NASA SoCal this Sunday. Amped!

The forecast for BW this weekend is beautiful, wish I was going. Alas, family commitments keep me away. I'll be at Sonoma in a couple weeks though!

Was able to take home a 2nd place podium last event up here in NorCal FWIW. R7 *might* be faster at some tracks but it's such a big power cut I think the RR/RC1 is the only way we can hang.

Holy hell, I hadn't even looked at the weather until now. That is IDEAL for a June day in the high desert. Hey BTW, sorry I missed you at Buttonwillow in April. Had my hands full between working on my and my friends' cars all day and trying to find my instructor for a checkout ride haha.
Probably won't be able to make it up to Sonoma in a couple weeks, planning on having my built motor finished and going in the car at about that time. I'll stay in touch and hopefully make it up to some NorCal events once summer's over though!

Worth quite a bit TBH. I'll have to go back and see how much HP the RC1s free up on my classification sheet vs the RT660s. It's a +0.6 modifier so it can't be more than like 10whp right? My current max for TT4 is 232whp with a 2530lb total weight, the RT660s and vented fenders (didn't build the car as a dedicated TT4 racer otherwise I would've omitted them). You think it's worth the traction difference to run RC1s and more power vs the RT660s? I haven't run Maxxis before but I was under the impression that the Falkens had notably more grip.
I think I've researched this quite a bit but there's always a decent chance I'm out in the weeds.
I hate rt660s, I delaminated them in 1.5 events. I went 1 sec faster on 3 HC RC1 at sonoma vs sticker RT660s, the RC1 does literally everything better. It's a no brainer IMO.
Well ****, guess I'll add RC1s to the list of things I gotta try. I had the center tread of one of my brand new brand new front RT660s partially delaminate at my last track event. Had like 3mm of it just peel off and fold over to the side after a session midday. Figured it was a fluke though as almost all my buddies run them and none of them ever mentioned such an issue.
Edit: This whole time, I thought you were talking about VR1s, not RC1s. Makes more sense now.
