Just started browsing that sight, it's actually pretty neat.

And you probably could find a 48/31/32. Heck I just saw one that was 50/31/30 or something...

Thoughts? I should probably get one before they go to court.

Re age of the suit. 3.2A/1, 3.2A/3 and 3.2A/5 suits are good as long as you keep them clean. 3.2A/10 and higher needs to be re-certified every 5 years.

On that HNR, keep in mind SFI 38.1 requires 5 year recert now. That's the main reason I went with HANS over the others.

Where did you find this information? If that is true, I'm buying an F1 quality suit.

If this is true, now my only concern is that this suit is too stylish:

Seriously, this changes the game. What is the lightest, most brethable silver suit I can buy under $1k?

That document covers 3.2A* so if there is no requirement in there for 1,3,5 then there is no requirement for it. Not sure about club requirements, I only know chumpcar which just needs the suit to remain clean. I'd imagine they stole that from the GCR or CCR.

e:
NASA:
15.17.1 Driving Suits
A driver is required to wear a suit that covers his or her entire body except for hands,
feet, and head. Driving suits shall be one piece carrying an SFI 3.2A/1* rating or higher
(3.2A/5, 3.2A/10, 3.2A/15, or 3.2A/20) or FIA 8856-2000, FIA NORME 1986/1986. *The
driving suit requirement for vehicles using any type of diesel or diesel mixture is 3.2A/5,
or higher, effective 01/01/2011.

SCCA:
1. Driving suits that effectively cover the body from the neck
to the ankles and wrists. One piece suits are highly recommended.
All suits shall bear an SFI 3.2A/1 or higher certification
label or FIA 1986 Standard or FIA Standard or 8856-2000
homologation label. Underwear of fire resistant material shall
be used, but is optional with suits carrying an FIA Standard
1986 Standard or FIA Standard 8856-2000 label or SFI 3-2A/5
or higher (e.g., /10, /15, /20) certification label.

Also, if you're doing Chump/Lemons keep in mind you'll be refueling in your suit.

I'll get a cheap-o for refueling, maybe just a coat.

If you are serious about buying a nice OMP suit or a lightweight, breathable comfortable suit (i.e. A* or equal quality) PM me. I can definitely get you a deal on an A* suit, and maybe on OMP.

I would recommend a 2011 A* GP-Tech suit:

http://www.alpinestars.com/shop/cate...-tech-suit-us/

That's the suit I have and I'm very pleased with it, minus the fact that it's not custom tailored to me. I have a red one, they offer a silver but it's a very light shade of silver.

Any thoughts on this "package"?

I'm still toying with the idea of a 986 shirt. I will get 2 pair of socks. Does anyone know if that bag will fit in a Miata passenger seat? Oh the compromised life of owning Miatas.

How do those cool-shirts size out? I am extremely pumped...5'11", 199.5lb and not really fat. I think I'm getting a 52 suit but will still need help getting out of the shoulders.

Don't you ------- dare spend $200 ------- dollars on a ------- duffel bag. You're wearing the damn suit all weekend, and the rest of the time it's hung up in your closet. Buy a $5 Rubbermaid or Wal-Mart bag for ------- christs ------- sake.

Thanks for talking sense into me. The difference can go to a 986 shirt.

I have thought about buying a Defender but everyone convinced me out of it. There is a reason NASCAR and other top racing divisions use HANS, because it is the safest thing around. Might aswell spend the $150 extra or whatever it is for a HANS. That's my .02
