Don't have to be involved to find things like that annoying lmao.

Saltiest? Probably not. Only one that would say it? Seems like it.

What you don't understand is that it only makes you look bad. From when it was posted on here, the parties involved wrote it off as a "racing incident" and moved on with their lives. You appear to be incapable of doing so and instead choose to bitch about it and post misleading graphics. (Times from same event are 1:40.952 and 1:41.120 respectively, don't be stupid)

If you're cool with looking like a bitter irrelevant onlooker, then carry on. Just seems like a weird thing to do.

Is it worth to take the "Tires with a UTQG Treadwear rating 100 or greater or Toyo RR +0.6" or is it just faster to run HoHos?

It seems like a lot of the local miatas run pretty fact on A052s, Rc1s, RRs, Ar1s

I was running on 200tw Falkend RTK+s and I was only 4 seconds off pace the of the 3rd place TT5 time, at Lime rock

Half the parties involved didn’t even show up at post race impound.

I don’t remember seeing you there.

An hour before he was crashed off the front of the ST6 race, Sonny did in fact run the 1:40.714 posted. It is the standing TT6 record.

4 seconds off pace 3rd place in a class up isn't much of a metric. At 2018 NASA Champs I went faster than TTD in a TTE Miata, which was only good for 3rd nearly 2 seconds off pace of first in TTE 😅

Hoosiers are fastest. It's nice they're trying to do some amount of balancing, but it doesn't offset.

I've never driven on slicks, so I guess I can't imagine how much faster they are. Maybe I'll try to pick up some SM7s just to see. So far I've only used a few 200tw tires

Try to get within about 2 second on street tires before you make the jump to hoosiers.

I don't think the RRs are worth the ultimate pace hit, even at the 0.6 break they give. The hot 200tw would be faster on a flyer lap, which is all you need in TT. But I think it's hard to say if one of the hot 200tw tires could get it done in TT consistently. Typically their pace falls off a bit, even in sprint w2w races so R7 or even RRs would be favored in that environment, IMO. I've heard some pretty good things about the RT660 though and this CR-1 from Nankang is supposedly guna be on par or a tad faster than A052s. They also come in larger sizes for us too!

Like Austin said, it's hard to compare to metrics like that. I say if you're that close to times to win regionally, slap some R7s on your car, sign up for contingency, and go win

Sorry for if this is a noob question: Does this "Non-OEM, modified or relocated brake calipers/bracketsor rotor diameter -0.2" include sport brakes, if the car didn't come with them?

Sport brakes are an OEM part. No points hit.

I got my fatty NB2 LS/Sport Pkg daily driver "Turtle" down to 2486 w/driver by deleting the passenger seat, softtop, shock tower brace and running it on a gallon of gas autocross style.
Mods are pretty simple boltons, Xidas and tires.
205 R7/9"
900/500 Xida
RB front/SPM rear bars

RB header
GW catted midpipe
RB muffler
AEM intake
Squaretop
132 peak, 125 Average

Stock bushings/camber
Stock 3.9T/6spd
OEM hardtop, all glass/AC/stereo/ABS/CC/etc

I put a dw200 pump in it for future MS3/e85, but that investment has not been justified yet, so the car is missing ~9 average WHP for this weight.

Good enough to take the Club Course record from the 2019 Champ runner-up with a 43.751.
Pretty far off the true class pace still(42.9 Pro course on a drying/green track vs the 40.7 record), but it was fun weekend thrashing my daily with my buddies(7 in class)

It's nice knowing you can achieve those numbers without MS

I had played around a bit trying to use the stock VTCS intake manifold so the car would cross over to SCCA T5. I knew it sucked, did not know it sucked this bad. Or I guess, didn't suck enough?

EDIT: Yes, I know my intake is too long.

Ran my first event in TT6 at Mid Ohio. Fit right in at 2340lb / 128hp avg.

Engine:
  • NB1 BP4W - Stock 78k miles with the first 15 years driven by granny and the last 4 as a track car.
  • Stock ECU
  • Square Top IM
  • BP5A intake cam
  • +4deg global ignition advance via crank sensor offset
  • Custom Intake
  • Crappy Raceland header and custom exhaust
I got it dynoed at Mid Ohio. The only issue is, as I've suspected, it hits the rev limiter before 7000rpm. Actually 6950rpm per the dyno. And my datalogger, running off the coil trigger, correlates with the dyno coil pickup. So that's not helping the avg hp. I may look into swapping the crystal out; I really just need >7000rpm to use the 7 point power avg and I don't want to dick with a standalone ECU considering I don't need more power for the class.

I'm trying the Toyo RR 205/50 on a 8" wheel and compared with the 200TW tires I've ran for years (mainly RE71R), I'm quite disappointed after a full weekend on a fresh set. The butt dyno indicated they were significantly slower than the RE71R and my competition on BFG R1/Nankang AR-1/and of course R7's was consistently gaining mid corner. And looking at the data today it's at least 0.1 to 0.15g less than on RE71R's back in 2019. With the longer corners like keyhole and carousel being ~0.2sec slower each! I managed a best of 1:45.6 with a high 44 possible with some improvements, but damn.
I guess I'll stick with the RR for the next event at Gingerman and see if I can dial them in with alignment/pressures. They're much noisier and far less precise than I was expecting. Seems like the carcass isn't stiff enough. Quite vague feeling in transition and they seem to want quite a few degrees more slip angle than the RE71Rs while generating significantly less grip. I tried adjusting hot pressures from 35-38psi down to 32 and that helped some. I wanted to run the Friday practice, but it rained most of the day, so I don't have any tire temps to go off of. Currently running -3.2/-2.8deg camber.

Anyone have any feedback on the RR? Maybe I'm just expecting too much from them, but most any 200TW will spank them at least in a TT setting. Already planning to ballast up to 2450 and switch to R7's.

The current crop of super 200's are indeed faster than the RR. Comical that the RR is rated at 40 treadwear. The only 100 treadwear tire that I know of that is faster than the best super 200 is the new Goodyear SC3R.

^ this is surprising to me. My SCCA region has recently created SM classes for both the SM7 and the (cheaper and longer lasting) RR that NASA uses. It's early but anecdotally lap times with the RR's are less than a second off of the SM7's. Obviously lower powered cars with a 205 tire size, the difference may be greater with more power and more rubber.

No direct personal experience but from what I have heard from folks I trust is that the SM7 is not an R7. Its slower. The fastest current super 200 is less than 2s slower than an R7 on a typical 2:00 course. While none of that is a conclusive, there is room in there for a super 200 to be faster than an RR.

Is that true over an entire 20-30 minute session, or just for a few laps?
