There are multiple funny things about that. First, as others have pointed out, ID and DW have EV14 lines. Second, there are many EV6 injectors that atomize better than EV14 injectors. Why? Due to the spray pattern choice, orifice design, pintle design, etc etc. The ID injectors are actually not a multi-orifice wide spray cone designed for atomization. There are EV6 injectors that fit this design criteria. Then there are issues of open time, pintle opening spray pattern vs full on pattern, transient delivery issues, etc. I run ID 725s as I was testing a set when they first came out. I have run DW700s and ID1000 and they are all great especially compared to older generation options. I haven't tried FIC because I don't sell them.

My only point here is that generalizations don't necessarily apply. There are still good EV6 injectors just like there are still good SD IV injectors. Heck, there are some new SD V injectors out (80lb/hr shorties) that are great even though the newest series for port injection is SD VII.

Will be testing this new wheel and tire package next week. Plan is to test this vs my 15" setup. I have a second diff built with proper gearing for 13's. I plan to run the 15" setup then swap diffs and wheels and run again. I know the 15's will take more abuse, but Im thinking that the lower center of gravity may improve handling and be a little easier on the tires.

I am looking forward to see your results.

For curiosity's sake, will you be testing the two set ups on the same day?

I forget, what tires are you running? Are you going to the non-cantilevered special sauce?

Yes, I will be testing both setups the same day. Hoping to do the test with about 1.5 hours between runs. Planning on 10 lap runs. I have full race length data from last season on the 15's. If the 13's prove faster in the short test then I will use them on my first race weekend. The only way to know if they will last and not fall off is to run them in a national length race, they should be good as there are several guys running 13's on their miatas now.

My 15" setup is Enkei RPF1 and Hoosier 215/580R15 in the 80 compound they are a radial slick. The 13" setup is Jongblode 330's and Hoosier 215/530R15 in the 80 compound, also radial slicks. The 13's are 20.8" diameter while the 15"s are 22.9

The car is 2 7/8" at the front pinch weld on the 13" wheels, it will be essential to keep of course excursions to a minimum.

Nice. After moving to 20" diameter slicks for the XP car, I find it very hard to want to move to a something bigger.

How is the rear pinch seam height? I'm at 3 1/8" all around and am dragging the FM frame rails all over the place. Part of the reason I left them on the car. They make nice skid plates.

I am so glad to see a test like this in a more controlled environment.

Update: Weather and work have been against me, and I only have Tuesday and Wednesday this next week, and the forecast is rain and snow....colorado in the spring time. Its looking like I will get to test the week of the 22nd. Will provide updates as they become available. I do have a few shots of the new engine though.

Custom order from Wiesco, will be 10:1, that is the limited compression ratio for FP miata in the scca.

Interesting, I didn't realize there was a CR limit in FP. I assume there's a lift limit as well?

Since I wanted to see what the rest of FP's rules looks liek I'll answer my own question." Valve lift limited to .390”."

Yep lift is limited to .390. We have to use stock rods as well, though rod bolts are free. The rods are a weak point, prone to breaking through mechanical over revs from missed shifts. I will have to see if I can find a pic of one of my rod beams, they are polished, like the crank, this takes away focal stress points and will allow the rods to bend quite a bit before breaking. We are pushing for alternate rods but the comp board has resisted so far. So the plan for this engine is to time the rods out as end of service life after each season.
Shift point is 7800-8k with an 8400 rev limit just in case.

Interesting you mention polishing your stock rods. In my build thread, I have a pic of the polished stock rods in my previous motor.

I think polishing both the crank and rods makes some power too. I have been thinking of polishing the crank on the next motor, but damn that is a lot of work.

^^^ Nope, just the glass pack, sound level is 103db at the tracks that I run at, the Runoffs are 103 db too.

Been a while since I posted, finally have some information on th13-15 comparison The short and sweet answer when going from 15's to 13's is you ruin the handling. Even though the control arms don't change angle, roll center is changed due to the entire suspension being moved closer to the ground. The result is a big push and slower lap times. You can tune around the push some by dialing in a bunch of compression in the front shocks and stiffening the rear bar but it is still noticeable.

I have not given up on the 13's yet and plan on making a spring rate change to see if I can help the car. Have also been prepping for the Runoffs, this will be the last year at Road America, it is the 50th anniversary and there are just short of 700 entries, it should be a great event. Next year the Runoffs are at Laguna and the year after that at Daytona.

Amazing car, man. Can you provide some details on the balancer/crank-trigger setup when you have some time? Thanks.

Looks like the same balancer/ trigger wheel setup that Jesse Prather uses. It's is from BHJ dynamics, same manufacturer as The Unit Emilio sells
