Hello.

I bought an APR GTC200 for a BMW M3, 67 inches wide. Since it is not miata specific wing the uprights are not at the edge of the trunk lid. They are a bit wider than the distance between the tail lights, which eliminates the option of mounting it to the real panel area.

I can mount it to the bumper beam, or reinforcing the trunk lid and adding 4 steel hood pins to all 4 corners. I need to reach inside the trunk because the fuel cell is in there. Mounting it to the bumper beam will be a hassle as the car won't fit in the garage with those uprights.


Is my idea of reinforcing trunk lid and adding pins viable or I am smoking quality material?

 

pretty typical to put supports in the trunk that press on the trunk skin where the wing mounts attach so that the trunk just cant press down there. As in the supports are attached to the floor of the trunk but not the lid but just touch when the lid is closed.
