Mods if this is in the wrong section please move it. I am looking to buy new rotors and pads for my car for the track. I have the factory sport brakes. I either find very expensive or not so expensive rotors. I am wondering where you all are buying your rotors from. I would also like to know if they are sloted or drilled. It would be cool to get a list going so that others can benifit from this as well.

Just get the cheap napa/kragen/autozone blanks for rotors and good pads to suit your needs.

 

When you say "track", do you mean roadcourse or autox.

 

I'm with crashncar, brembo blanks. From what I've heard drilled and/or slotted rotors aren't worth it. Not when you can get regular blanks for $20 a pop and barely feel the difference.

 

Cheapest blanks, slotted/drilled/dimpled/etc are a waste of money better spent on pads.

 

I'm a big fan of NAPA asian metal blanks. $20 per corner for a 1.8 NA.

 

Its very tough to find sport rotors anywhere, and I can't get decent prices on them from auto-parts stores...but rockauto has them for $34 or something like that. I still have 3-sets at home.

I have the pads that is not the problem. I am just looking for sources for the rotors. Thank you for all of the sugestions. So far prices at Napa are FT $46 ea. RR 48 ea. Thease prices are for blanks. Any ther sugestions?

+1 for blanks. I have Centric blanks. They are at a pretty good price at 949racing.

 

I already told you they were cheaper at rockauto.

 

Check out saferacer.com. I picked up rotors for my 94 at 25$ a rotor and free shipping over $100.

 

It is pretty impressive at how few of the posters in this tread have read the original post or Hustlers answer.

Someone tell me why my egay rotors are not worth the $100 for all 4 shipped. Slotted and drilled but that doesn't really mean anything.

Just kidding, of course... those are what I run on my 996TT. On the Spec Miata we're running just like everyone suggested... Cheapest solid rotor you can get...

Slotted rotors (Or pad wipers) are not really needed, and I would never run a cheese grater on these cars. Cross drilled rotors do one thing very well, remove pad material in an excellerated manor...

I can't add to your original post question, because I'm stuck with the Spec Miata rules book on my car. As we develop Bojanglincraig's car, I'll post where we get his brake upgrade kit and what it cost...

Good pad, high temp fluid (Motul of GS610 are my favorite) and brake duct cooling if it's allowed (which it isn't on the SM).

Because they are drilled. Cheap drilled rotors = crack for sure.
