I can kinda read code and understand it but writing it from scratch is a whole nother story.

Makes sense, a lot of stuff at work is based around creating the education platform for my degree program. We shy away from arduino because it is a step away from hardware and doesn't always teach good coding practice. Same reason our CS programs start with C and then move to python. Python breaks a lot of universal coding practices and teaches a lot of bad habits to newcomers. Don't get me wrong python is awesome, but it shouldn't be your first language.

Thats how I learn. "Hey if I steal code from these 3 different projects I can kind of make my **** work." Which turns into eventually re-writing the whole ******* thing from scratch once I figure out how its all supposed to work and find whats shitty in the original, uncommented, code I stole.

Dunning Kruger Affect

It's baby's first microcontroller. There's a lot of dumb goofy ****, but it does the job of getting people interested in doing hardware/software projects.

It's basically the Harbor Freight of the microcontroller world: It's sometimes the right tool for the job and it will work in a bind, but you should probably pony up for decent stuff if you don't want to hate life.

wimp. I can make an electronic twist grip throttle vary the brightness of an LED on certain Digital pins, or I can make it vary the rate the onboard led blinks. Completely unknown its actually gonna work as the throttle for my scooter, or if the oldskool mag coil and iron rod solenoid is going to like being driven at 490Hz (how else am I supposed to switch a 250A current without spending all the money, rotfl).

Kicking myself every day. Newbs, don't buy a DIYPNP because you're intimidated by DB-37. A MS3 is just as easy once you RTFM. True story!
