All it takes is one drive in a chopped car, engine screaming, wind rushing by, tire chunks flying off the tires of the GTR ahead of you and pinging off your helmet, to make you a firm believer and start scheming how you can take your car over to the dark side.

Been kicking the idea around for about 15 years. Finally pulled the trigger last year. Seam welded, caged and reinforced front/rear sections. Just waiting for the K20 kit from David. Should have it on track next year. 250whp. 10" wheels and 1700lbs. Should do the trick.

Had not seen the fishy cat in blue. That looks stellar.

The fun factor on a chopped car is a good bit higher than a normal car, even a convertible.
First time I drove a Renault sports racer got me thinking, then a drive in a windshieldless Caterham was all I needed to get me over the edge.

Props for a killer livery

The center would cave in ever so slightly, a center brace should make it go away.

Yup. The 3/16" flutter at about 120. Guessing the 1/4" would not and a brace under the 3/16" would stabilize it.

If I ever start to apply sawsall to windshield header on a racecar I really hope I stop my self and say, "damn, maybe I should just go buy a formula car" Those formula fords and F1000s really arent all that expensive.
What is the deal with windshields on kit cars vs street cars? I know I can probably get an Exocet through kit car inspections in NC but spending 6k on an Exocet is less appealing than $20 in reciprocating saw blades. Can I sawzall my car and then claim it is a kit car ?
