Adventures in PTE/TTE
Must be something new. Requirement for pics in logbook has always been there but I have never heard of it being enforced.

So, has anyone seen the Ventus TD in 195 width lately? Because I need some, and now I cant find any. If Ive got to rework a suspension and diff setup Ive built around having those tires, the next three weeks to prep for Hyperfest are going to suck.
I have a feeling they were discontinued in that size a few years ago. The one set we tested it last year had DOT build dates from 2013 or 2014 IIRC.

Pure serendipity but I just saw a post that Federal is releasing a 595RS-RR. Distinguished from its predecessor 595RS-R by an even softer compound and.. wait for it.. 200tw rating. Unlike SCCA autocross, NASA does not require it be available in two sizes of three diameters by, although it appears the tire will just make their May cutoff day for eligibility at Solo Nationals. My guess is that the 205/50/15 will sell through quickly.
Federal Tyres - UHP - 595RS-RR
They apparently don't have many dealers in the US. Don't ask me how much, where to get them etc, go here: Federal Tyres - Corporate - Distribution Map

Bridgestone is releasing the RE71R in a 195/50/15. Could be a good replacement for the 195 TD for TTF. RE71R availability sucks right now and I think the guy at Tire Rack told me the 195 wouldn't be available til August, but it's worth a call to Tire Rack if you're in a bind.

I have seen those as well (stumbled upon them last week), but they dont seem to be available anywhere yet.
For TTF I assume? There's no reason to run a 195 in E since they took away the -40mm tire option.

The RRs seem like the obvious answer since I have a pretty good suspension setup that Id prefer not to go dicking with 3 weeks before race weekend, and they are probably a solid 1s or more faster around VIR than the NT-01/RC-1 would be on my current setup. Just spitballing...
Any new tire or tire with a changed UTQG tread wear rating must be evaluated by the National PT Director before the rating will be legal for use in NASA PT classing. All DOT-approved tires must be available for purchase by the general public through Federal or state licensed tire dealers.
Niiceeee. I hope I can purchase a few good pics of my car at Hyperfest next month.
So pondering here...... for my next two events on my points car I can either run:
700/400, RB 1.125" front/14mm rear, min 2410lbs, stock ECU, I/H/E, 205 r7s
or
1000/400, stock sways, min 2375lbs, stock ECU, I/H/E, 205 r7s
I don't have 800/500 and I don't have an ECU to run to net more power. I'm not sure if those 35lbs are worth the advantage over the proper sway-bars. In theory, the lighter car will be faster, but harder to drive right? Next two events are CMP and ViR.
1000/400 @ 2375

Heavier and more power for VIR. Lighter is faster for CMP.
he isn't changing power

At 2410, I ran 2430 with my 225 nt01s last event 21points I think. Dyno reclass would gain 6 points for whatever else.
Since we both have minimal power mods, we should just both dyno reclass to get a few more points for other crap
